Stay Here!

This is a gem! Stay here! For the price of a hotel room, we stayed in a suite that had a bedroom (with tv), lounge (with another tv), kitchenette and spacious bathroom. The suites are relatively new, well furnished, large and have really comfortable beds. The Starlight Suiten's location could not be better... it is in the heart of Pest and close to the Chain bridge so crossing over to Buda is very easy. The hotel staff are friendly and efficient.
Excellent hotel in a great location

I travel a lot on business and get to stay in some very comfortable hotels around the world. Since this was a personal holiday for my wife and me, we searched very hard for a hotel that wouyld be comfortable and clean at a price we could afford. The Starlight Suiten exceeded our expectations on all counts.
We got a fantastic room (705) on the top floor which was not only spacious, but also had a huge terrace attached to it, which was fantastic.
The location is excellent. It is right next door to the Four Seasons, which is some indication of location - just a two minute walk to the chain bridge and the riverside and about 5 minutes on the other side to the main metro station and city centre.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and all speak English well.
The rooms have a sitting room and bedroom with TV in each, although for some reason we were only able to get a signal in the sitting room. There was also a fridge and microwave oven which were useful.
I agree with a previous reviewer that the smoking section at breakfast was the better section, but despite being non-smokers we sat there and found that there weren't too many smokers.
We would come back and stay here without thinking and would recommend this hotel to anyone, even to those without a limited budget. We will also look for Starlight Suiten hotels in other European cities the next time we travel.
Almost Excellent!

We stayed in the Starlight Suiten in July 2006. We were very happy to find that it had a/c because there was a heat wave. Everything was excellent -- location, room size, bed, service, breakfast, etc. -- although the street outside was a bit noisy in the mornings.
I did not give this hotel the highest rating for two reasons: First, they were doing some repairs, so the TV reception was terrible (even though we were delighted to find two TVs). Second, anything extra was a complete rip-off. The price to do laundry was ridiculously high. One shirt was 12,000 ft ($6 USD), one T-shirt was 11,000 ft. ($5.50 USD), and one pair of underwear was 6,000 ft ($3 USD). I refused to pay for laundry and was starting to stink, so my fiancee "urged" me to buy new clothes, which ended up costing just a little more than a load of laundry would have. Also, the mini-bar was priced even higher than the usual rip-off. Hennessey was the highest priced nip at 2,800 ft ($14 USD).
The friendliest hotel ever

We just came home from an extended weekend in Budapest and just loved our stay. The staff at the hotel seemed to live to please their guests. Lots of ideas and brochures for any tourist trip or arrangement you would like. Always willing to make reservations for you and eager to please in a friendly, but not pushy manner. All were fluent in English and German as well as getting buy in a few other languages from what we heared. I'm not a good walker due to healthproblems, but we got taxis arranges within a few minutes when ever we asked, and the company Buda-taxi had nice airconditioned cars. Most trips were between 750 and 1350 HUF within the Pest area.
Rooms were big, as everyone else tells, and because my husband smokes we got one of the smoking rooms. For a non smoker it was good, the room didn't stink like most of them do, so even for me it was enjoyable. (He doesn't smoke in the bedroom and with the sliding doors it was easy to keep the rooms separate) We had a suite towards the street, but it seemed rather quiet and we had no problems with noise at all at the 3rd floor. At breakfast it was possible to choose between a smoking and a no smoking area, but I will admit that the smoking area was the most attractive by the windows.
There is a good, but a bit pricy (for Budapest) French restaurant in the same street as the hotel. We also enjoyed meals at Leroys (Hungarian/Italian) on the square in front of the St Stephans chuch near buy. If you are big eaters, try Fatal at Vaci utca 67. We made the mistake of ordering starters the first time, and were not even close to finish our main course. Probably a good place with ravenous teenagers.

An excellent place to stay in Budapest. Superb location close to the chain bridge with tram, bus and metro stops nearby. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Large rooms with comfortable bed and air-conditioning. I would certainly stay at this hotel again.
