In the heart of Buda

Unique Quality: Surrounded by Budapest's most iconic landmarks, all 402 of the rooms in this squat glass tower close to the Chain Bridge were completely renovated about two years ago. The renovation? A modern, open, and airy take on the Biedermeier style that makes this one of the most highly regarded hotels in Hungary's capital city. The prime location doesn't hurt: the hotel is right in the center of town on the Buda side, overlooking the Danube River to the massive Royal Palace on the southern side of Castle Hill (See the photo.), which is brilliantly illuminated at night. There is a hotel spa (which seems to be de rigueur in baths-obsessed Budapest) and an outdoor terrace where you can enjoy a drink or a meal at the Corso restaurant which also offers an incomparable Danube view.
TripAdvisor rates the Intercontinental as #15 among 331 hotels which their members rate in Budapest.

A big sigh after hours of train travel

I booked the hotel for Budapest off of Hotwire. I knew it would be a five star located in prime location, however beyond that not a clue. Received the name of the hotel after booking.

I paid 112.00 CDN which included tax.

We opted for pickup from the train station by contacting the hotel directing and arranging pickup, cost was 25 euros. We arrived very late at night and the driver was patiently waiting right on the platform making transport painless.

Check - in was friendly and prompt. English is not a problem.

The room face the opposite side of the river and I'm not sure what an upgrade would be, to do it again I would opt for the upgrade, yet the room was clean, modern and comfortable. We did face a great statue of the Emperor and infamous Sisi.

The first night we had a few bites and drinks in the lobby bar, expensive! The most expensive meal on our trip! Nothing else was open so had no options but if you can veer away from eating here it would serve your wallet well.

Unique Quality: The location makes this hotel. Right on the pest promenade overlooking the twinkling lights of Buda. Within walking distance of Vaci utca - a great street for shopping and eating, Buda - the castle district, and some of the famous thermal baths.

Great Views!

The Inter-Continental is the best address in town. This five-star hotel is located on the Pest side of Budapest and overlooks the beauty of Buda. Expect five stars all the way. Rooms are nice, service is excellent, and the room rates are reasonable. We were very satisfied with our stay there!

Unique Quality: You can upgrade your room for 40 Euro/night to overlook the Danube River and Buda. This is WELL worth it. We spent several nights looking out our picture window with a bottle of Hungarian wine, enjoying this view.

Luxurious hotel with great view

The Intercontinental hotel is a 5 stars luxurious hotel with one of the best locations in the city - overlooking Buda castle and hill , very close to the chain bridge , Roosvelt square and the Danube promenade.

The hotel has almost 400 rooms from standard to a big suite , they have non smoking rooms.

Unique Quality: The Danube view

On the Danube

Got a great rate at the hotel and what a fabulous location.
We joined the Ambassador club which at night had unbeatable views
of the Danube. Two blocks from the metro. A tram stop near by.
Snacks at the club and full, never ending breakfast buffett.
I would sooo stay here again!

Unique Quality: The unique quality (amongst many) of course the "L" word. Location,,steps from the river.

Great Location

The InterContinental Hotel is in a perfect location, right next to the Chain Bridge and a short walk across the bridge from the castle district. The rooms were very big by European standards and the service was fantastic. We also got some great recommendations and reservations for places to have dinner. The breakfast in the hotel was also very good.

Typical IC hotel with great service, clean and somewhat big rooms, Club floors, and shops. Choose a river side view, it's unbelievable beautiful at night!

Unique Quality: Rarely have we seen better view from room!

Great view, great location

First, if you just thinking about going to Budapest...Go! It's fantastic.

We upgraded to a River view club room and it was worth it. The view is the most spectacular view across the Danube to the Palace. Rooms are on the small side, but well appointed with mini-bar. They're not tiny, just small.

Internet service is very expensive ($32/day) but free in the club lounge, where many use the two free workstations, or you can bring your laptop and un-plug on of their workstations and plug your laptop in. The lounge serves high quality breakfast, snacks during the day, and wine and champagne in the evening. Best club I've used.

We arrived late on a Saturday night and were awoken by the sound of a hammer-drill in the ceiling above our room at 10:00 Sunday morning. Thank god they didn't start earlier. This would be repeated twice more during the week. (think of a mini jack-hammer in the ceiling).

Thursday morning there was no hot water, although it was fixed quickly.

Maid service was sometimes spotty. One time they left the dirty coffee cups for us, and the mattress was HARD! Which didn't bother me over much, but drove my wife crazy. There is a bottom sheet and you are given two very nice comforters with duvet covers as your top sheet. No problem staying warm. (This is in December, so it was cold outside)

Pros: Great location, right next to Tram line, beautiful views, small hotel, clean and well maintained. Staff very nice and knowledgable, any problems were fixed quickly.

Cons: Spotty Maid service, maybe some maintenance issues.

Unique Quality: Fantastic views. Great location. Wonderful staff. Walking distance to a number of very interesting sights. (In fact, most anything in Budapest is within walking distance if you don't mind walking)

Expensive but the view is killre

I'm a fan of Intercons and Intercontinental Budapest didn't disappoint. the hotel also has, arguably, the best location in town, with views across the river to the Castle on the hill.

hotel airport transfer

by silab

agaian thanks for your help.
How can i get transfer (metro.train...) from intercontinental budapest to airport terminal 2.

Re: hotel airport transfer

by leics

Easiest (imo) is to book the BUD airport shuttle. They will pick you up from your hotel. Very reliable, very reasonably-priced. courteous and efficient service. Your hotel (or you) can phone them, or you can book online:

http://www.bud.hu/english/passengers/transport_and_parking/by_minibus

http://www.airportshuttle.hu/en

Or you can take the train:

http://www.bud.hu/english/passengers/transport_and_parking/by_train

or bus:

Re: hotel airport transfer

That's what I used too. Your hotel reception will arrange it for you if you ask them the night before.

Re: hotel airport transfer

ok. How to get from keleti sttation to intercontinental?

Re: hotel airport transfer

by leics

The hotel page tells you the nearest Metro stations:

http://www.budapest.intercontinental.com/en/directions.html

and there is a Metro map here:

http://www.budapestinfo.org/budapest_metro_map.html

From Keleti it is a short and direct trip to Deak Ferenc Ter, and just one change to Vorosmarty Ter. Look at the streetmap on the hotel page above to see how to walk to the hotel.
