The past March (06') we could reach a shared room in this hostel... we booked in advanced (some months). Our stay there was really great we met great people there...it wasnt full ..just half booked and i can suggest so hardly this hostel....the bathroom is clean .. rooms as well ..staff quite nice and the price is affordable 100%...the situation is one of the best points ...almost in the center (Vorosmarty sq)
Lockers .. a big ones!! for each allow to keep ur backpack into it...you dont need any padlock cos it works with a simple key....
There arnt any curfew or any annoyance ..so if you get the chance forget Marco polo's scum and go there
when i arrived on my second stage around 22nd of October 2005 i was searching hostels after my expensive overnight train from bucharest (40euros) walking with my bloody backapck at 8 am in the morning...we stop first in Marco Polo hostel , i knew it wasnt nice but its the closest to the station ..it was overcrowded !! i walked to the second one in the list , Mellow mood hostel located in Becsi Utca 2..actually is the center of the city and well comunicated closer to Vaci utca..the most expensive street or at least it gets the most trendy shops ...and they told me it was already full ..!!! so we had to make some calls to friends and at last i found a friends pad to sleep there...
the prices vary around 12 euros in low season 15 in october and 18 in high season but the breakfast is not included butits just 2 euros
so this is an advice if you are on tour around eastern try to book in advance in budapest...doesnt mind if its october or whatever...everybody loves it and come here lol !!!
Not for other places in Romania or Poland but here in Budapest there are a lot of backapackers all year round..and i say backpackers cos i didnt see so much typical tourists in the city on that time
This hostel was pretty centrally located and had a nice common room with Internet access and a T.V. and a bar/breakfast/lunch area. It also had a nice washer and dryer. It is a very new hostel so it is not sketchy or run down which is very positive in my book. The reception girl spoke good English which is also a positive. Right down the way I found a good Internet place that was cheaper then the Internet access at the Hostel.
Unique Quality: Mellow Mood Central is a hostel located in the centre of Budapest. It is four stories and has a bar and common room on the top floor. It has huge roomy dorm rooms.
Directions: Central Budapest
Mellow Mood Hostel is located in the very center of Budapest, near Deak square, in Pest. Thus, a great location.
The hostel has normal prices, equivalent to most hostels, around 15? in a dorm for 8 people.
There is a bar and internet access on the last floor. Staff is cool. No curfew.
Only shadow: they ask you to leave the room at 10am and if you are staying you will have the people cleaning the room at 10am... which is quite disturbing when you have been clubbing until 5am.
During my last trip to Budapest, I arrived at Keleti from Sighisoara, Romania early in the morning. Having made no reservations I proceeded to the tourist information center. I had heard about the Red Bus hostel and asked for directions at tourist info. Tourist Information recommended Mellow Mood Hostels, as Tourist Information was sponsored by this hostel. I eventually figured out directions to the Red Bus. They were booked.
I walked around by the Danube, along the pedestrian path near the river when I turned a corner and came across a hostel with an ideal location. Little did I know this was the same hostel advertised in Keleti. I wish I had known earlier, I could have saved a lot of time. Near to the center, with available rooms, it was clean and spacious. I booked a four-bed dorm room and found it replete with a large individual locker. At the end of the hall was a spacious bathroom/shower, along with toilet halfway down the hall.
The top floor has a common room, with television, internet and inexpensive beer. I've heard that there is breakfast available, but not included in the room's price. However since its location is so close to the pedestrian street, you might as well walk out and enjoy breakfast with the locals and watch people as they make their way to work.
The hostel is near to all the sights, a few blocks from the Danube, one block over from the aforementioned pedestrian street and close to the Chain Bridge and the Parliament.
