City Centre

This hotel is located right in the heart of the pedestrian centre of the city. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly, said hello and asked if they could assist constantly. The breakfast was good and consists of a well-stocked buffet style selection of local Hungarian and International meals.

Wish we would have stayed

We didn't actually get to stay at the Taverna, as they were overbooked, so they moved us to the InterContinental. Normally, I'm not too positive on a hotel that overbooks and had to move me to another, but they made the transition so smooth, I have to give them credit. They moved us to a very nice hotel, in a great location, and made the move very easy. My wife was showing up later in the day, and they made it very easy for her to figure out where I was and get to the other hotel.

The hotel is also in a great location right on the pedestrian zone.

beware breakfeast buffet charges

hotel staff pleasant and rooms comfortable. watchout for breakfast buffet charges.....lavish buffet but charge is 30 euros per person and they don't tell you that when you check in......be sure to confirm price and have them write down. i was under the impression it was 600 to a 1000 florints from clerk at check in.

Unique Quality: centrally located

Brilliant

Just spent 3 days at the Taverna, excellant, is the ony word, great location, food typical european, bur loads of choice.
Rooms a bit on the small side but for 3 days it was spot on. Handy for all transport pick ups and only about 3mins waks from the river.if you go the Budapest try the Market about 10mins walk from the hotel, when you come out turn left keep walking for 10 mins and you can't miss it. also try a night out up in the castle district, go the the House of Hungarian wines at about 5.30pm its costs about £8.00 each you get a glass then your let loose for up to 2 hours to drink as much as you like, then go to one of the many resturants uo there, we went to one near enough to the wine place , fantastic food and even a violinist to serenade you after your meal, what more can I say.

Great location

Very comfortable hotel. Rooms are a little small but they had everything I needed and the hotel facilities and staff are really good.
Unbeatable location too, we walked almost everywhere from this hotel.

Unique Quality: Location and breakfast have to be the best qualities.

Central Location/ Walking Distance to everything

Located on a the longest padestrian only street in Budapest. Danube is two blocks away. All restaurants, casinos, stores are righty downstairs. Rooms are kind of small but clean and location makes up for it. Buffet breakfast is included.

Taverna Hotel

This 4* hotel is known as a great place for tourists because of its good service and its centeral location just in the middle of Vaci utca.
The hotel has 227 comfortable rooms equipped with all the newest equipment.
At the days of the Hungarian F1 race the prices at the hotel are can be twice as the regular.

Unique Quality: The hotel situated at the herat of the Imnner city of Pest, a very noisy and active place, so dont expect to have a quite night....

Hotel Taverna

I stayed at the Hotel Taverna **** , a modern 7-story hotel, located on on Vaci Street, in the heart of the downtown shopping area. The location was great although my side of the hotel was a little noisy until quite late from people in the street.

Unique Quality: It has a restaurant, sauna and solarium not that I had time to enjoy any of them.

I went to Budapest twice in...

I went to Budapest twice in 2000 so I stayed in two different hotels.
The first time I stayed at the Liget Hotel, located by the park and Hero'Square.
The second time I stayed at Hotel Taverna on Vaci Street (the street with all the nightlife).
HotelLiget cost about 70-80 USD a night for a double room. Hotel Taverna cost about 100 USD a night.

Unique Quality: Hotel Liget is a nice medium range Hotel. I thought it was great because it has a massuse on call.
Hotel Taverna is a great hotel for its location. You are in walking distance to all the clubs, bars and restaurants.

I was there 3 years ago, it is O.K., not more than that, unless it went through some serious renovations you shouldn't expect much. It is centrally located and that's very important, great access to major city attraction.

We did not stay at Mercure Korona but at the very near by Mercure Nemzeti, which we liked very much. I wrote a review on my Budapest page.
