Walk up to Gellert Hill for magnificent views
by Gypsystravels
I loved my walk up to Gellert Hill, it was a pretty easy climb to the top of Liberation Monument and the Citadel. The views were quite specatular and rewarding after the climb especially since the weather was starting to clear up.
From here you have a great view across the Danube with views of all three bridges and even a glimpse of Parliament. It is well worth the extra effort to get up here.
Relaxing Spa

Gellert spa is one of the more expensive spas, but for a reason, the interior is beautifully decorated and there are 3 steam rooms to choose from, all of different temperatures.
Located in the Hotel Gellert, on the Buda side.
From Buda to Pest
by croisbeauty
There are two bridges across the Danube leading from Buda to Pest, Szechenyi Lanchid and the Elisabeth Bridge. Across the last mentioned you reach the Sabad Sajto street and the very heart of the Inner City or Pest. In the perspective you can see the famous Klotilde Palaces at the beginning of Kossuth Lajos street.
The old rose seller
by biggeorge
Now rose sellers who bug you in bars would normally be an annoyance or a tourist trap ,but there's a very small ,old ,bald guy who's apparently been doing it since the war. He normally works the bars on List Ferenc Ter and is something of an institution. So buy one for the ball and chain ,or any likely looking girls that happen to wander past. You can't miss him he's about 90 years old.

At the main railway station we bought our return tickets to Brasov,
these cost around £45. There are 4 trains per day from Budapest to
Brasov. We got a 6pm train arriving at 6am in Brasov. You must
remember Romania is another hour ahead of Hungary incidently.
Buying the tickets was no problem at all, very straight forward.
The train was hot and uncomfortable, forget the storys of being
able to sleep on the seat, it gives your back so much grief its
impossible to sleep.
We never encountered any bother going out with regard to all these
stories of gypsies trying to steal your bags etc. Returning to Budapest
we caught the 9am train from Brasov, a lot of gypsys were on this one
begging and stinking the carriages out. But in truth if you are stern
enough and tell them to @@@@ off, they scuttle away.
Its a very long journey on the train, the romanian part is ok as there
is plenty to see, countless huge birds of prey among much other wildlife
and beautiful landscape, and pitiful peasant dwellings.
Hungary is just flat fields, and more boring then Holland from a train
view, point of view.
