Old, but still comfortable

I suppose that my view of Radio Inn is slightly skewed, as I stayed in it right after spending two weeks living in hovels in Barcelona. The ability to turn around without banging into a cheap piece of furniture pleased me greatly. Nevertheless, the first thing that will strike anyone who stays in Radio Inn is that it is old. The place is solidly built and clean, so it's not like it's dilapidated, but the fixtures, the furniture, the kitchen, everything has seen better days. I think that the building was probably originally designed to house the employees of the Hungarian Radio company that is also domiciled in the same building, but has since been converted into a combination of apartments for short-term rent and hotel with traditional rooms. The place is comfortable and the apartments are quite large, with three rooms (bedroom, sitting room and kitchen), as well as a bathroom with bath and a separate room with a toilet. The staff was courteous and helpful, although it was rare that the same person was on duty twice, and the place was quiet during the night. My only complaint would be about the kitchen, as the pots, pans and the like are all quite old and used, and the stove was a bit of a struggle to use - not to mention the kettle, as it had a handle that refused to stay in place.

Unique Quality: Probably the best thing about Radio Inn is the fact that you don't quite feel as if you are staying in a hotel. As I said, it is in a very quiet area of the city, and the large amount of space that you get in the apartments allows you to stretch out and relax in a way that wouldn't be possible in a standard hotel room. Although it isn't in the centre of the city - it's at Bajza utca subway station on line 1 - it is a 20 minute walk from the Oktagon and about a 5 minute walk from Heroes' Square and the two art galleries.
