More about Residence Izabella Budapest

An excellent choice for Independent Travellers

by TripAdvisor Member shivfergus

We stayed at this hotel over New Year and we were amazed at the size of the room we had. Having the kitchen was great because it meant that we didn't have to avail of the hotel breakfast. We also didn't mind that there was no restaurant as the hotel is so near to the Oktagon with lots of places to eat. The one night we stayed in on the couch, we ordered room service from the Italian around the corner.

The one thing that did annoy us was the constant parties from an apartment 2 floors above us. On complaining to reception, the noise level was at least lowered. However, the sound proofing clearly wasn't great.

I realise that this wasn't the hotel's fault however and would definitely choose to stay there again.

Izabella is a winner for families

by TripAdvisor Member RazTravler

Ideal location, beautifully designed lobby, contemporary rooms, spacious apartment, devoted staff!

Our family of five, 3 teenagers, spent eight night from Dec 27- Jan 4 in a two bedroom apartment.

It was truly a home away from home. Many nice touches including free wifi, fully furnished kitchen and 24 hour room service. Immaculate property and real winner.

The 1900's subway line and attraction along the line were a treat.

Excellent experience

by TripAdvisor Member sally_pgw

My husband & I stayed here for 4 nights in end Feb 2008 and had a good time. It was like a home away from home with all the appliances & fully equipped kitchen. It was convenient to get stuff from the supermarket near Oktogan and eat in the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We needed an adapter for our laptop plug and they went & bought one just for us. They were also helpful in giving suggestions about the city and in calling the taxi for dropping us to the station. The apartments could have been designed a little better, or at least the one we had. The bathroom door was right opposite the kitchen and we would have preferred access to the bathroom from the bedroom. Getting into and out of the tub for a shower was not very easy for me as I am short and the tub is quite high. But the hotel is very clean and conveniently located.

Excellent as per the previous reviews

Good Home Away From Home

by TripAdvisor Member mlevitt

I was in Budapest for an extended period of time (6 weeks). The Residence Izabella is a great little apartment with just the right mix of amenities for any long term stay. The cute kitchen is functional, the free laundry is a great perk, and the extra half bath in the units is a nice touch. The staff are very friendly and speak perfect english. The hotel is conveniently located near public transport and some little grocery shops. My only complaint is that they service the room only once per week; it would have been nice to have had 2 or 3 services available. You can pay for extra cleaning but it is a bit pricey to do that. Quick Tip: Try to get one of the rooms higher up as they have vaulted ceilings and better windows. Garden view is also a quieter option.

Central, spacious and clean

by TripAdvisor Member erstokke

I ordered a 3 nights stay for my wife and me based on the reviews here. I was not disappointed. We ordered the 'Superior' appartment.

The staff was friendly, the rooms spacious and clean and the location is very good near the Andrassy Boulevard. There was no traffic noise at all. We were able to walk to the Opera, down by the Danube and to Varosliget Park. One day we even walked on to the Buda Castle heights and then to Gellert - and back. If you are not that keen on walking, the Metro will bring you quickly "down town".

It is an apartment hotel which means the you on one hand get a spacious and fully equipped apartment. On the other hand, there is no restaurant and they don't make the bed or change the towels daily. However - if you need clean towels I am sure the friendly staff will help you. And if you get hungry, they will provide room service.

Breakfast is not included, but at 10 euros there is a small breakfast buffet with cereals, bread/rolls and jam. If you want something else, the city has lots of cafes, and just around the corner is Lucas' - with very nice cakes etc.

## Overall ##
There are two reasons why this hotel/apartment complex is rate 2nd on trip advisor in Budapest, firstly Residence Izabella is overall an excellent place to stay in almost every category and proves to be great value for money in my opinion. Secondly they ask you if you would review the hotel here... very clever, because often if people have nothing to complain about (which they wouldn't here) they wont review.

Overall our stay was excellent, staff were exceedingly friendly, helpful and fluent English speaking. I would (and have already) recommend this place to stay for my friends.

A nice touch was the hand-written personalised welcome note on the counter.

I like to give balanced reviews, but I really cannot find any note worthy negative points here.

## Room ##
The apartment was immaculate, clean, larger than your average standard double hotel room, well presented. The kitchen was very well kitted out, oven, microwave, fridge/mini bar and the adjoining lounge had TV with mixed language channels including three or four English channels, stereo and DVD player - oh, and a heater/air conditioner.

Our apartment (#7) was very nicely placed on the ground floor at the rear of the building and opened out into the courtyard garden, very quiet. With two large French doors in the lounge it makes a nice relaxing place to unwind in the afternoon. There is also a floor-to-ceiling glass door in the bedroom that opens out into the courtyard.

The bedroom has a medium sized safe and the room itself was a good size, with three built-in robes, the bed was very comfortable.

The bathroom was huge, although this may have had to do with the fact that the room was built for disabled access.

## Services ##
I was impressed to find that the rooms all have *free* high speed wireless internet access, which would make these apartments perfect for a business traveller.

Reading through the list of hotel services and in-room service you'd be forgiven for thinking your were actually staying in a hotel and not apartments. The list was very impressive to say the least.

We tried room service, prices for which are comparable to many of the restaurants in the immediate area. We tried the pizza and later some antipasto starters, both of which were excellent in flavour and value - delivery was quite fast as well. The pizza (for price) was a huge hand stretched (~50cm), stone oven baked thing!

## Location ##
The location at first seems to be a bit out of the way, however Residence Izabella is well placed to see many of the major sights and access to the Pest city centre is a cinch by the Metro, which is only about 200m from the front door. In the other direction is the Városliget (city park) where you can wander around, see visit the Zoo or take a dip in the baths.

You can also walk to the centre, which takes about 30 minutes.

For restaurants, you can walk 10 minutes down Andrassy ut to Opera where there is a long mall with lots a great bars and restaurants.

## Tips ##
The Tropicana Casino in Pest city centre is busy, quirky little casino if you feel like a bet. Easily accessible from the hotel via the metro into the city centre (~10 minutes). You have to register and pay entrance (which you can bet at the tables later), however the hotel had small cards in the foyer that offered free entry.

In the square in the mall (near Tropicana) there is free wireless internet access. There is also a free city-wide wireless network in places, however with my iPhone I was not able to get past the welcome page so that may just have to do with the Safari browser.

Near Opera, there is an excellent restaurant serving traditional style (apparently retro) Hungarian food called Menza. 2 starters, 2 mains, wine, water and service for about £35 is quite good value, especially considering the ample serving sizes.

There is an airport shuttle that you can purchase return ticket for, very easy and convenient way to transfer to and from the airport. You just need to order the return trip 24 hours in advance.

Quiet and confortable

by TripAdvisor Member JLOP

We found the Hotel through the Lonely Planet and Tripadvisor.

Everything happened as planned : large and quiet roo; on 5h floor on a patio, very kind personnel, nice location close to charming Lukacz Pastry, good price for quality. Probably one of the best in a very big city with some areas not nice for living
