Excellent choice in centre of Budapest
It is often difficult to determine where the centre of a large city is. But in Budapest the meeting of the 3 metro lines at Deak Ferenc Square is considered to be just that. And about 200 metres from the underground station is the Starlight suiten Madach. Our stay of 5 nights in September, 2009 was comfortable, with friendly staff and a modern clean suite of 2 rooms with comfortable beds, a refrigerator, microwave, and 2 televisions; and a shower and bathtub (so often lacking in modern or modernised hotels who often instal a shower only). We booked through Expedia which included contintental breakfast. If we had wanted a full breakfast, this would have cost €12.90 which seemed steep. Having said that the continental breakfast was excellent with fruit juice, coffee or tea, croissants, toast, rolls, jams, etc. Across the street from the hotel was the Castro Bistro which was excellent for quick meals. Remember, though, there is still smoking allowed in pubs and restaurants and this one could get especially smokey at times so try to sit outside if that is a concern.
Unique Quality: Staff were excellent and knowledgable about local sights and where to eat. There is a gym and sauna. The hotel is near the main synagogue, Vaci Ut shopping street, St Stephen's Basilica, and a short metro ride or a not too long walk across the Chain Bridge to the funicular railway to the Castle.
