Station Guesthouse

Staying here was the most fun part of my trip to Budapest. The people who work at the hostel are first-rate! Young, friendly, knowledgeable and just plain good folks.

They even threw me a birthday party!

Unique Quality: Pool tables, 24-hour beer. There's one main area where everyone gathers, with picnic tables inside. Write a message for others to see on the ceiling!

Directions: Near the train station, away from main city. You take a bus and walk to get there.

This hostel is located on the "outskirts" of Budapest (you have to take the old subway line almost to its end or an express bus from the city centre -- total one-way travel time is at least 20 minutes). The rates are very low. I believe I paid 9 Euros for a dorm bed. I would recommend this hostel if it wasn't for its out-of-the-way location and unimpressive dorms.

Unique Quality: Free internet, cool dog resides in the hostel, interesting residential neighborhood, thermal baths and a large park are close by. The staff are friendly.

Directions: Northeast side of Pest. Mexikoi subway stop or #7 express bus from downtown.

Great place! I met there many other travellers! Accomodation is great, for 12 EUR you get a two bed room with lot of space!

Unique Quality: Everything is clean and simply no one can beat this price!

Directions: Take BUS 7 from train station, get off at Hungaria Korut, take right to Mexikoi Ut and two corners, you're there.
