Any ideas for romantic things to do in Budapest? I'm looking for something that would make a nice surprise. And nothing tacky, like the river cruise with music and dancing...

Here a number of tips: Margrit Island has horse carriages to take you through the Island, then stop off at the Hotel Terrace Restaurant there, or go to Romai Park - right on the Danube, lots of Terrace Restaurants and music there, or go to Hunyadi Castle, rent a boat on the lake followed by Dinner or just stroll along the Enbankements of the Duna, see the sights all lit up at night or well the list can go on and on........ Budapest is really a City for Romance

Margit Island is certainly great.
I would add: Gellert Hill, climb it from Erzsebet Bridge, admire the view and... the rest you know yourself.
Castle Hill (in Buda) by night is also very romantic: the darkness with soft, warm illumination, the sweeping views...
I agree that Budapest is a very romantic city!

When travelling for some time and your digital card needs writing to CD very often they do not give you a hard cover to protect your CD from breaking in your suitcase. I had to look everywhere to purchase CD cases.
Solution, when leaving home pack a CD case similar to what you put in your car glove box. I just bought one which can take 12 CD's for $3.
Hungary and both capital Budapest becomes higher and higher in economy and lot of bussiness class buildings are appearing. The biggest impression for me is that some of these buildings are with unique architecture, as building shown in my picture.
This church is maybe an off the beaten path sight, even if it`s quite close to the Óbuda city centre and the main square. You find it at the (Ó-)Buda bridgehead of the Árpád bridge (northern Budapest) and it`s located in a very cute park. The church was built between 1744 and 1749 on the plans of the architect János György Paur and it was consacrated for Saint Peter and Paul.
Near the church you can see some nice baroque statues.
At the Red Metro Line Tunnel in Budapest not once a week You can hear the word of God.KYM HICKS one of the Gospel Singers from Maryland,Baltimore yesterday was singing here the song by Newton (1725-1807)

It is a great place to relaxe from the trip through Budapest. It is also inside and outside and the thermes are on both places. Inside is a part which is divided in men and women.
But from outside you will have a great view to the Gellert Hills.
This therme belongs to the Gellert - Hotel.
I like this beautiful architecture outside too!
