 | Budapest Victoria Reviews | Tips 1 - 5 of 5 | | I staid there 4 nights mid-June and can say that it is a good choice. It is a small, boutique type hotel. Reception and restaurant for breakfast are small but nice. Reception is efficient and kind. Situation on the Buda embankment of the Danube at 5 minutes walk from the "chain bridge" is favourable for communications. Is it a noisy surrounding ? There is along the river a two lane avenue on a lower level. Next on a higher level there is a promenade for pedestrians and bicycles under some trees, a tram line and a one way lane for local traffic. From my room on the 9th floor I had no noise at all (except the elevator machinery located at that upper level). From the restaurant on the ground floor or outside from the sidewalk the noise was moderate, nearly nil at night. The trams start around 5 a.m. It should be noted that the five stars hotels on the other side of the river have also trams, busses and other traffic in front of them. The rooms are large and well furnished. The negative point is the small douche room. Although the sun started shining on the window around 5 a.m. in June the air-conditioning of my room (under the roof) was efficient even at 30°C outside. The breakfast buffet is not up to a 4 star class although one can order eggs and beacon. The food is on display in front of the window and is warmed up by the sun. This is not recommended for yoghurt, cheese or ham. In summertime they should refresh this part of the buffet. Conclusion: Hotel Victoria gives quality for a reasonable price. I booked at 118 €/night, breakfast incl., but as the HUF had decreased against the EUR I finally paid only 112 €/night. In London I would have a 2 star hotel for that amount, in Paris or Rome a 3 star with view on a wall !
The view (from the level 4 and higher) is fantastic. The fact that there are only 3 rooms perlevel (9) makes it a quiet hotel (no noisy tourist groups). Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: On the Danube river bank, Buda side.Map: Victoria

The rooms with the floor to ceiling windows that look across the Danube River at the Parliment building make this hotel a great find. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageMap: Victoria

Stayed at the Victoria in March 2006; this is a comfortable small (27 rooms) hotel with fantastic views of the Danube, Parliament, the Chain Bridge and Margaret Island. The bedroom was spacious, the bathroom was well equipped and the staff were great. Breakfasts served overlooking the Danube with good breads, cereals, cold meats, cheese and eggs on a buffet and hot dishes to order from the kitchen. The girls on the desk were very helpful with restaurants, taxis and directions. Trams stop just up the road or a short walk to the Metro at Batthany Ter where there are good cafes. Turning away from the Danube you can reach the Fisherman's Bastion by climbing the steps from one of the side streets. Easier still catch the funicular up and walk down. The hotel can arrange an airport pickup at very competitive rates.
