Cheap beer
by barryg23
One Euro a pint :)
I'll have two more please!
Beer is incredibly good value in Budapest and we spent a good deal of the weekend trying out the local brew. One of my fondest memories was drinking beer and eating Langos at a festival in City Park. We had just spent a relaxing few hours in the Szechenyi Baths (also in the park) and afterwards we saw a festival in the park so we went for a quick visit - and ended up spending the evening there.
Budapest has a bit of a Parisian ambiance

and creates with that its unique mix....
But these stairs were one of the things that did remind me a bit of Paris. And it gives you also an idea of the steepness of thehill you'll be climbing if you decide to go to the Mathias church. We decended these stairs just below the walls that surround castle hill
The great internals of the Újlaki church-ceiling
by 1courage
Also the 4 not really big, but very nice ceiling frescos are worthy of note.
Even though they are not originals: they were not painted in the period when the church was built, but only in the 1920`s.
Nevertheless, their neaobaroque style is in a perfect harmony with the internals!
Sadly we cannot see any ceiling fresco in the sanctuary. Those, created by Mátyás Schervitz in the 1760`s, haven`t survived the centuries and were never repainted.

This is a mass transport hub (?) and the "Manhattan of Budapest" you will find here quite tall and new buildings e.g. the Police Palace (yess :D). Metro line 3., tram lines 1, 1A, bus lines 26,32,106,120,132fast,133 and regional buses to Vac, Szentendre, Esztergom...
