in the square center,virgin mary's column (1686) to celebrate buda reconquest against turks. buildings of the past well preserved.....in the middle of an industrial region....
Arriving in Gyor the first building to attract you is the Town hall.
There is in szent istvan street-wcich was called Mrketplace until the end of 1880'sand was the conection betwwen Budapest and Vienna.
The constraction started on 1896.
I had good photographic fortune in Gyor. It started out dull and overcast, but while I was there the winds picked up and blew all the clouds away. The town of Gyor really shines when the sun comes out and a postcard-blue sky frames the baroque yellow and orange buildings of the center city.
