I would agree with all comments - good and bad. Absolutely best location in town. Staff is super friendly and very helpful. Quality of hotel restaurant was superb and reasonably priced - we wound up eating all our meals there. We had the large room overlooking the square - a view to die for. Bird's eye view to the live band that played until 9 PM. Now the not-so-good. Just as you have a great view of the square, you can also hear the crowds drinking and partying til the wee hours of the morning. Not a problem for me - I liked the action - but something you should consider. The rooms were also fairly basic and the bed wasn't the most comfortable thing I've ever slept on, but it did the job. Surprisingly, the hotel had the best selection of english language TV we saw in a month. All in all, if I were to go back, I'd stay there again, in the exact same room.
Unique Quality: great location - great restaurant - have their own secure parking lot - a short walk away

are there trains from eger to krakow?what is the travel time?where can i see the scheduled time of trains?is there any other cheaper and convinient way to go to krakow from eger?
Hi Vpas,
I think the easiest way is to come to Budapest with train and continue to Krakow by train.
It takes cc. 16 hours.
You can come to budapest in the afternoon (4.30 PM from eger arrive to budapest-Keleti at 7 PM and from Keleti to krakkow (depart at 8PM and arrives at 6.30 AM the next morning).
A bit long trip but you can spend the night on the train. You can book a couchette to sleep on the train. You won't loose any time.

Hi,
Hungary has a very Budapest centralised public transport.
So in many cases it's the most easiest way is to go via Budapest.

Little friendly cozy city center of Eger I would never forget! This long meandering narrow streets, little cafes with sweet things, good money exchange rate, shops with different usefull handmade things... Eh eh eh wanna come back there again.

Eger is one of the most beautiful towns of Hungary with lots of historic buildings. It lies in the valley of the Eger Stream, in the hill-country, which extends over the western foot of the Bükk Mountains.
The small town centre is a pedestrianised
area that features many brightly painted houses with iron balconies lining narrow, twisting streets. Ornate lampposts and hanging baskets of flowers decorate the cobbled lanes and squares and sculptures representing the battle against the Turks are a proud reminder of the victorious saga. Eger is a Baroque town known not only for its history, mellow charm and vineyards, but also for its thermal baths. Visitors looking for a bit of time-out can unwind in the peaceful Archbishop’s Garden, a leafy park enclosing swimming pools and hot thermal baths.
I had heard stories of religous oppression in eastern bloc countries, and was surprised at the number of glorious places of worship in Hungary. Some were in dis-repair and we often left donations for the restoration work. Seeing all the beautiful art done in devotion.

great location - great restaurant - have their own secure parking lot - a short walk away
