If you are looking for a great apartment to rent for your Budapest stay that I can give these guys the Best of recommendations -- They have a good selection of apartments to rent, there prices are very reasonable and the main man -- Zoltán Szentgáli is an absolute Gentleman. -- My friend Helga was Robbed on the train on her way into Budapest and Zoltan met her at the railway station, took her to the police station and acted as an interpreter, then took her to the apartment, lent her some money as she had lost Everything and was a Great support for her until I arrived later that evening -- Thank You Zoltan.
Renting your own apartment works out a lot cheaper than staying in a hotel and gives you a lot more independence -- we chose Szerémi Apartment central located Budapest accommodation Unfortunately because Helga getting Robbed we were unable to stay there the six nights that we had arranged but again Zoltan was very reasonable and only charged us for the nights that we used the apartment

The Hotel Offi Has in Eger by Paul2001 I stayed in the Hotel Offi House quite by accident. I had been looking for the Senator Has Hotel but wandered into this Offi actually thinking I had found the Senator. It was a pleasant mistake for this was a very good hotel if somewhat above my budget.
The hotel room was very handsomely furnished and modern in all respects. The hotel is in a building that dates from the 17th century. There is a popular restaurant on site with a huge patio. The hotel has a great location being just steps from most of Eger's main attractions and finest restaurants. The staff here was friendly but they were more waiters then hotel clerks. This probably because the hotel only has five rooms. From the outside the Baross Hotel looks more like a pension than a hotel. It in fact only it occupies just the top three floors of the building pictured here. It actually does not look like much from outside however once I took the elevator up to the reception desk I was very satisfied. Everything was quite modern and because the place is rather small, it had a more intimate atmosphere.
The staff here was helpful for the most part. The rooms have satillite TV and my single was fairly large. I had an interior room so there was little street noise. I suspect that this might be a problem with the street side suites. The only downside I had with this hotel was that I was not thrilled with was the area which was not the nicest in Budapest and I think that a single woman at night might find it threatening. One of our many hosts by kaloz We arrived in Hungary with no accomodations arrainged. It is very easy to get a room in someone's home. You can go to the IBUSZ to pre-brook a room as they have a network of homes that are open, but they take a cut -- and the rooms vary in quality. The easiest way is to walk towards the IBUSZ office, and you will be approached with offers of rooms. If you don't reach an agreement, they will point you towards the IBUSZ, but you will never get there, as another and another will stop you.
Staying in peoples homes is a way to see how the Hungarians live. Often you can inquire at train stations or ask a cabbie. They all know someone with a room to let. Do go to IBUSZ if you are headed for a very popular area (Balaton) as rooms are harder to get there.

The Diana Hotel by Paul2001 I had a little problem when I arrived in Pecs. I did not check ahead before I left Budapest and upon my arrival I discovered that there was a medical convention in town AND a movie festival (on Hungarian cinema). Hence I discovered that many of the hotels were booked up. After staggering through town looking for a place to stay I found the Diana Hotel. This turned out to be a surprisingly happy option. Unfortunately the only room that they had available was one with three beds but they offered it to me for a reduced price. The staff here was very friendly. Furthermore the decor was lovely and the place had a homey way about. It was more a pension then a hotel
The hotel has a breakfast room and a bar although I did not notice the latter. Doesn't look like a hotel, does it? by zaffaran The hotel was clean, staff- very friendly, not any problems but remember-you should book in advance as it's quite small. You may leave your car and move around by public means of transport.
Perfect location - in the citadel on the top of the Gellert Hill (views!), very special atmosphere - as it was a real fortress.
