I've been to Budapest twice. Both times that i've been there I used this wesite to find an apartment. If you go to this website www.ibusz.hu you will find hundreds of furnished apartments that will rent them out to you for much less than you would pay in a hotel!! And they are also centrally located in the downtown area and near metro stations! If you do use them, try to stay in the fifth district or near Vaci Utca. It is the best district in town. Safe, Clean and near EVERYTHING! Make a stop in a local information booth and get free maps and ideas for 1-2 day trips.

These apartments are in buildings that locals live in as well. You get the chance to really be inbedded in the culture and get a feel of what it's like to be Hungarian.

Hotel Korona: Where to stay in Budapest Downtown?
  • Satisfaction:
  • kulen
  • By kulen on August 8, 2008
  • Hi Guys,
I live in Budapest for a longer time, but in my opinion this Hotel would offer you the best price/ratio/location rates. Located in the Heart of Budapest Downtown, close to night clubs, shopping district and the danube! You can walk within 15 minutes to Gellért Bath, or to Rudas Bath during the day. During the night just next to the Hotel is the Irish Cat Pub, which is a good pub at winter time. For partying, during the summer time, please take an open air places, like Holdudvar on the Margaret Island or Romkert, just next to the Elisabeth Bridge. Hope I could help.
For any help in Hungary or Budapest, just write to me..
    Good luck!!
    Zoli

Hotel has not so big rooms, but it is 4 starts, price is around 120 EUR/night. Quality is always good! Metro is just next to the hotel, so you can get everywhere in the city :)
    Wish you a nice stay..

Dominik Panzio: Do Not Stay Here
  • Satisfaction:
  • DueSer
  • By DueSer on May 7, 2008
  • This place is terrible - everything is done the cheapest possible way and yet the rates aren't all that inexpensive. The towels are fluffy and soft. And yeah, that's about the only nice thing I can say about it. The beds are hard, the pillows like bags of rocks, everything is dirty and/or old and torn and faded. The bathrooms are gross...just don't stay here. Trust me.

    I visited Budapest last year.
A frind of mine who had stayed in Budapest gave me their address.
She was right and I had a pleasant stay at this apartment and I recommend to anybody who wish to stay in the center of the city at very good rate.

The apartment is located just behind the Operahouse.
There are only 2 rooms so you shoud reserve in advance if you want to stay there.
The owner came to the station to meet me on the first day, which was very good as I could learn how to get the subway and the apartment. :)

If I go back to Budapest, definitely I would stay there again! :) :)

They renovated the apartment in 2007.
It was lovely rooms with full of new furnitures.

The location was just behind the Operahouse.
    It was great location.

They didn't have any special facility, but they had almost everything which was necessary.

Judit apartments: Cheap city center accomodation

  • By treekiller on March 18, 2008
  • Really nice to stay there for the money. Its on victor hugo street, just a short walk from the city centre.

I paid about 25 euro a night for my own twin room, with toilet/shower/kitchen and safe. Really couldnt fault it for the money and would stay there again.

Red Bus Hostel 1: Clean, Quiet, Safe Hostel
  • Satisfaction:
  • kgduke
  • By kgduke on March 16, 2008
  • The Red Bus Hostel is in a great location - really close to three metro stops, a short was from the river, and very close to the interesting Jewish Quarter.

I stayed in a 4 person dorm and really enjoyed it. Each person gets a lockable locker. A continental breakfast is served family-style in the kitchen until 9:30am and includes bread/jam/butter, cereal/milk, coffee, tea, etc.

This place is ultra clean and pretty quiet. Very safe as you need a key or code to enter the building and then another key to get into the hostel proper and another key for your room.

Cheap internet in reception. Helpful staff. Hot showers. 24-hour check-in and staffed reception desk.

Lacks a decent common room, but everything else was great.

Four Seasons Gresham Palace: Best Hotel in all of Budapest

  • Hungary Hotels and Accommodations
    by kmbob
The Four Seasons are always hotels known for service, but the Gresham Palace might be one of the best of all the Four Seasons when it comes to it. Rooms are larger than the typical European standard, well equipped, and very well furnished. There is an exquisite bar located on the first floor, which itself is one of the most ornate and beautiful ever put into a hotel. Staff is always very happy to please and very polite, nearly all of them speak English. Highly reccomended to anyone thinking of travelling to Budapest.

The hotel has spectacular views of the Danube and the Chain Bridge from a number of rooms. Beyond that, the location is very centralized, with a walk of only one to two blocks to St. Stephen's basillica and only around 15 minutes to the opposite side of the Danube and the Castle district. Without a doubt this is the best hotel in Budapest for anyone who is willing to spend the money.

It is a nice small inn, in western Hungary, Szentgotthard city with like 5 rooms in the rooftop of the building, with a nice restaurant downstairs.
You can find this place in the internet and reserve a room through phone. you can also find their menu in the internet. We were traveling nearby and stayed for one night only, but we had a nice time here, good, friendly atmosphere and delicious food. although the train station was about 50 meters away, it was a quiet place.
