Hotel Gresham Palace: Top hotel in Budapest

by liquidkitty1

Hotel Gresham Palace is worth a splurge. It is in Conde Nast Travel magazine's Top 100 hotels and absolutely wonderful. The lobby features a magnificent chandelier and descreet service. The rooms have a doorbell. A daily weather report is placed on your bed at night. The bathrooms are dreamy and the rooms are tastefully decorated with very comfortable beds.

Everything is outstanding - except that you have to pay for internet (we did not) which is outrageous.
Upgrade to the 2nd level $ rooms (5th floor) and be rewarded with a view overlooking the famous Szecheyni bridge, Buda Castle and St. Matthew's lit up in the evening. Spectacular!
The chic pool area is on the top floor and has a Tibetan salt rock faced jacuzzi, as well as a sauna. Plush towels and water available.

Budapest Hilton: Buda's Best View

by FranciscoV

I stayed a couple of nights and had a great time. Great view of Pest from the restaurant. Fisherman's Bastion is right behind it so is very convenient for a stroll after dinner. Located on the UNESCO Heritage Site of Buda and near to many historical sites.

First of all the view is incomparable, service is excellent, good amenities (bar, gym, pool, etc.), excellent restaurant. The room was kept clean and comfortable. Good place to stay if you are planning a river cruise up or down the Danube.

Hotel Mercure Budapest Duna: More than a 3 star hotel

by hopang

Hotel Mercure Budapest Duna is a three star tourist hotel located near Petofi hid at Boráros tér on the Pest side of River Danube. It has approximately 130 well furnished rooms including approximately 60 non-smoking rooms spread into seven levels of the building.

Facilities and amenities in the hotel include meeting and conference rooms, lobby bar, restaurant, business corner and parking area for motor vehicles. They are considered quite good for a three star hotel including free high speed internet access at the reception, hair dryer, cable colour television, WiFi and safe deposit box in the room. The only amenity seems to be missing is mini bar and/or coffee making facilities in the room. Buffet breakfast in the hotel's restaurant is satisfactory. The hotel staff is helpful and friendly. We certainly can recommend this hotel to tourists and budget travellers. You may e-mail to the following address for booking or for more information regarding the hotel:- h2025@accor.com

Great view of River Danube, the bridges and Gellert Hill.

IBUSZ offices: Private Accomodation

by tamasbr

At most central IBUSZ offices in Hungary you can ask to stay at a private home. IBUSZ is the Hungarian travel bureau and they keep a list of private rooms for rent. Not anyone can register with them, they check out the accomodations and only list those that have been found to be clean, comfortable and the like. These are very cheap compared to hotels, Bed and breakfast, and has the added benefit of a local who knows the area and can guide you and advise you on things of interest in the area etc. On my first stay and visit in Hungary, the proprietor was very very friendly and would tip me on things to see or restaurants to visit that turned out to be some of my most memorable moments of my vacation.

Inexpensive, good chance that the local person is helpful, and generally centrally located.

ibusz: Where to stay and save

by GunMetalGray

I've been to Budapest twice. Both times that i've been there I used this wesite to find an apartment. If you go to this website www.ibusz.hu you will find hundreds of furnished apartments that will rent them out to you for much less than you would pay in a hotel!! And they are also centrally located in the downtown area and near metro stations! If you do use them, try to stay in the fifth district or near Vaci Utca. It is the best district in town. Safe, Clean and near EVERYTHING! Make a stop in a local information booth and get free maps and ideas for 1-2 day trips.

These apartments are in buildings that locals live in as well. You get the chance to really be inbedded in the culture and get a feel of what it's like to be Hungarian.

Hotel Korona: Where to stay in Budapest Downtown?

by kulen

Hi Guys,
I live in Budapest for a longer time, but in my opinion this Hotel would offer you the best price/ratio/location rates. Located in the Heart of Budapest Downtown, close to night clubs, shopping district and the danube! You can walk within 15 minutes to Gellért Bath, or to Rudas Bath during the day. During the night just next to the Hotel is the Irish Cat Pub, which is a good pub at winter time. For partying, during the summer time, please take an open air places, like Holdudvar on the Margaret Island or Romkert, just next to the Elisabeth Bridge. Hope I could help.
For any help in Hungary or Budapest, just write to me..
Good luck!!
Zoli

Hotel has not so big rooms, but it is 4 starts, price is around 120 EUR/night. Quality is always good! Metro is just next to the hotel, so you can get everywhere in the city :)
Wish you a nice stay..

Dominik Panzio: Do Not Stay Here

by DueSer

This place is terrible - everything is done the cheapest possible way and yet the rates aren't all that inexpensive. The towels are fluffy and soft. And yeah, that's about the only nice thing I can say about it. The beds are hard, the pillows like bags of rocks, everything is dirty and/or old and torn and faded. The bathrooms are gross...just don't stay here. Trust me.
