Pecs to or from Belgrade??

by Fordcore

I'm trying to get to Pecs on a trip I'm making down to Belgrade... but all the research I've done says I'll probably have to go to Budapest, and then backtrack. Does anyone know about a bus, or even two trains/busses that might make the journey a little more direct?

Any help you can offer me would be very much appreciated.

Matt

I suppose you're planning to take a train down to Belgrade. If you don't want to travel back to Budapest from Pecs, your only option is the daytime train that travels all the afternoon to Belgrade.
Now,I've found a shortcut which saves you an early wake-up.

Bus Dep. Pecs,autobusz-allomas 10:30
Direction Baja-Szeged
Arr. Baja,autobusz-allomas 12:25
Cross the park for train station (vasutallomas).
Train Dep. Baja 13:03
Direction Kiskunhalas
Arr. Kiskunhalas 14:22
Wait.
Train Dep. Kiskunhalas 15:43
Direction Kelebia-Beograd
Arr. Beograd 20:43

Travel Tips for Pecs

Pécs is a very charming city...

by Maline

Pécs is a very charming city with beatiful architecture. You should definitely take your time to walk around in the center and also, take to the east from Széchenyi Square (see map) and explore some of the less obvious parts of the city.

Western side of the Szechenyi ter

by croisbeauty

Finally, on the western end of the Sezhenyi ter, right opposite to the Town Hall, stands the former Pecs Saving Bank. This four level building from 1898, built in eclectic style, at the present time is used as an office block.

Wash day

by kaloz

We were amused to see the washing hanging in this small area. Air dry is best for clothes not to be wrinkled, and when you are travelling, hanging out you wash is a nice way to air out your traveling clothes.

If you have a car, or are not...

by FooLman

If you have a car, or are not afraid of taking a bus trip check Kõvágószõlõs, a small village with beautiful rock formations (well hiking gear is recommended for this, but not a big trip), and there is also a hang-gliding start position, with friendly folks who don't hit you with something big if you land on their trees, but invite you to the pub for a beer afterward. :)
