If you like wine - This place is like paradise :) The most known wine from this region is called EGRI BIKAVER. In my opinion - is one of the best wine from Hungary. Many private cellars are in NICE WOMAN VALLEY, restaurants with traditional Hungarian foods and live music (gypsy musicians). Wine is cheap and in some cellars having Very Good taste ( I like red wine from cellar Number 46:)
If you can find the winery (not such an easy thing to do, our bus driver got lost!!) take a tour. I had 25 people with me and paid $60 for everyone to have a wine tasting that included food, about 15 bottles of wine and a tour of the facility
Bull’s Blood - This is a wine growing country. The viticulture in the region dates from the 13th century. The most famous wine of Eger is the ful l-bodied red wine Egri Bikavér, sometimes referred to as bull´s blood” because of the deep red colour. But there are other good wines, like Egri Leányka and Egri Medoc Noir
In "Valley of Beautiful Lady" dozens of wine cellars sell the wine just from barrels. Prices are very moderate - about 2 euros for one litre (or 50-60 forints / 0,1 l). One can buy a jug and drink it on the spot or a bottle which can take with oneself. Remember that "edes" means sweet, whereas "szaraz" - dry (feledes and felszaraz are semi-sweet and semi-dry).
