Holidays in Siofok 2002

When my daughter Mandy and my granddaughter Leony were here at us in Italy already 2 weeks, our common holidays began at the 3.August 2002.
We started in the early morning, because at this weekend many Italian people began their holidays.
We intended to drive via Austria to Hungary to escape the traffic congestion on the border to Slovenia.
But the first great traffic congestion we had already at Italy, nearly Venice.
The “passage” across Austria was very quickly.
On the border Austria/Hungary we must wait then over 2 hours for the entry to Hungary.
After about 14 hours of drive we arrived at the evening finally at Siofok!!
The Sipos family welcomed us very cordial
At the Sipos family we (my daughter Mandy and I) lived already many years ago (when the GDR
existed still), when we made often holidays on the Balaton Lake.
1989 we stayed the last time at Siofok.
Unfortunately we hadn’t good weather during our holiday week at the Balaton Lake.
Many rain and temperatures (which wasn’t an “invitation” to swim) we had all the days.
So we made a beautiful family and relaxation vacation, but not bath holidays.
We visited “old” places, took a walk very often (of course with Leony) and we went shopping
some times.
Siofok is very changed at the last years!!
It is a favourable holiday place, especially for young people, with many discotheques,
nightclubs, etc.
Our holidays in Siofok were very beautiful and especially the meeting with the Sipos family.
On the way to Germany we visited still my friends in and around Vienna, at Austria.
When we arrived on the 12.August 2002 at my parents, we don’t know, that the worst experience of the summer 2002 was still coming up…the flood-disaster of the century in my “old” native place Saxony!!
