Csikar Csarda Panzio: Koszeg, a hidden gem at western Hungary

We were looking for a charming and inexpensive room and a restaurant in Koszeg. Just by accident we have found "Csikar Csarda Panzio" this summer while traveling in Hungary. We paid less than half the price for a spacious room with 4 beds, and attached bathroom than we got qoutes from a more popular city-center Hotel (5 minutes drive away only). The most gracious and friendly owner, Mr. Sandor Wurst made our stay truly unforgettable. (He even helped me to find and meet a long lost cousin in this city.) The restaurant meals (picked from a huge menu) were very tasty, generous portions and priced very reasonably. (Shots of cherry brandy was given at dinner no charge.) The place is located at Koszeg, Also korut 12, that is at the city limit near Highway#87, leading to Szombathely.

Unique Quality: There about 8 guest rooms, facilities for meetings for about 100 people, inner restaurant space and a second one with terrace. Parking included for overnight guests. The meals are outstanding and inexpensive. We had no reservation, and found room in the middle of June 2007. All staff were very attentive and accomodating.
