"Heviz"
Heviz has become famous due to its Lake. The Lake is warm because of geothermal energy which is heated deep under the earth, after this it passes through rocks taking in various metals and minerals before emerging as a spring. If you look at the surface of the lake, you can see it moving slightly and when you are swimming sometimes you feel some bubbles rising up. The beginnings of the lake go back to the time when this region of Europe was under a tropical sea. According to researchers, the lake was formed about 22 thousand years ago at the same time as Lake Balaton.
"Spa's"
Hungary is second only to Iceland in Europe for medicinal natural spas. Next year sees the country attempt to publicise the fact with a year of health tourism.
The Lake at Heviz is the second largest thermal lake in the world.
Meanwhile, the Hungarian tradition of spas only being used for health purposes is migrating more towards our own pampering style, meaning many facilities offer both options.
