This pedestrian area connects Festetics Castle and the Mian Square of the town where the Town Hall and Franciscan Churh are located.
There are plenty of small shops, cafe-bars, Banks and tourist agencies in this street.

As I mentioned already, in the castle there is a very interesting museum. (Well, I have to admit, for me almost every museum is interesting....)
This museum has not only a permanent and temporary exhibitions, it´s also a conference and culture center.

Keszthely, heart of the Balaton

The city of Keszthely claims to be the capital of the Balaton region. It is the largest city at the lake, with 24.000 inhabitants, so this description is not strange.

Keszthely is situated at the northwest end of the lake, at the border of the beautiful Keszthely hills. This lovely landscape is already milions of years old.

And off course there is the lake. Lake Balaton. The biggest lake of Europe, excluding Scandinavia and Russia. It´s the place to be for watersporters and sunlovers.

Castle of Festetics

Castle of Festetics (was built 1759-1880) is a beautiful Baroque building with 101 rooms it is the 3rd largest castle in Hungary.
Original furniture and 86000 books in the library room, besides library there are 16 rooms furnished with period furniture. You can see Windischgratz trophies collection, and weapons of National Museum in the corridor. The garden of the Castle is also beautiful.
