Bjarg: Good farm guesthouse in Borgarnes
Judging by the number of entries in their guestbook, many people found their way to this guesthouse. Like a traditional Icelandic farm it consist of five small houses in a row. We got one of the houses with three bedrooms (we used only two) and one shared bathroom and kitchen. The bedrooms were a bit small, but clean and comfortable. In the morning we had a good breakfast.
The view from the guesthouse over the Borgarfjörður is fantastic. Recommended.
Wonderful location at the fjord, yet close to the centre of town.

Just after the bridge, park your car on the parkinglot on your left. You can pay for the camping at the tourist information office inside the store. If you are too late, some one from the tourists office visits between 9PM and 10PM and again in the morning.
Although it is right next to route number 1 and a collection of stores and petrol stations, it is relatively nice. They put up hills on both sides of the campground and it has a small beach. You will still hear the traffic in the background though. facilities are, typically for iceland, basic but clean (toilet/sink/shower). If it just to spend the night and resume driving the next day after stocking-up at the stores, it will do just fine. The price is 600 kroner per person.
