Overpriced tourist hotel

Compare to a 3 star rating, this is definetly not a 3 star plus hotel. During summer time when a lot of people are in hotel, the breakfast room is chaotic and staff seems confused and not motivated. Their motto is "Friendlier around Iceland" but that is most likely because they have looked away from creating a nice atomsphere for guests and decided to focus on underpaid foreigners to work for them.
But luckily for the hotel the staff is nice, but obviously they do not stop long as they seem to be badly trained.

Rooms are as diffrent as they are many, so you can be lucky and unlucky, depending on what room they allocate you. Like most things not everything is bad, and this is in fact a nice apartment hotel, which makes it a very good choice for families, especially the location 5 min walk to downtown but still not too close so you dont hear a sound while sleeping, the view if you get so lucky to get a ocean view is amazing and when they turn on the (Yoko Ono peace tower) you get the best view the city has to offer over it.
Note that beds are a lot better in "antique" rooms that hotel offers, other mattress were just very soft and not comfortable to sleep on. You also may not like showercabs as water is all over after taking shower.

Notice that when you arrive in Iceland and take the Flybus from Keflavik to Reykjavik you just tell the driver which hotel you are staying at and they will drive you to the hotel door, also you can get a pickup according to your flight to the hotel. (Does not apply to charter flights)

Unique Quality: Location and spectacular view from ocean view rooms.

Good Hotel

by Gwyndra about Fosshotel Baron

I stayed here for a 3 night period in 2001. It´s a good decent hotel with the basic ecuipment, regular size bathroom and it´s nice and tidy. Definietly recommendable!
I can´t say much about the prices as I stayed there as a part of an arranged tour.

Convenient Location at Reykjavik Harbor

by maryellen50 about Fosshotel Baron

Fosshótel Baron has shower/wc, TV and phone along with internet (fee). siness travellers. The 21 A breakfast buffet is included. The hotel is a few meters from Reykjavík’s shopping street and a short walk from Reykjavík’s harbour.

Had a great stay. Hotel is not much to look at from the outside, but the room was very big and comfortable. Good complimentary breakfast and a cool coffee machine for cappucino, espresso, hot chocolate, etc. Located close to the city center and main shopping street.

by froggymuppet

Hi we are planning on travelling to Reyjkavik end of March does anyone have any recommendations for 2 bedroom apartments close to the city centre. Also we are interested in the 4x4 trips and a trip to the northern lights. Any help we would be most grateful.

Hope this isn't too late for you. We just got back from Reykjavika little over a week ago; we have two (older) kids and stayed at FossHotel Baron (www.fosshotel.is). Had two bedrooms, plus a small refrigerator and stove. With the Skanplus card, it was around $190, I think. Not bad for Iceland. It was simple, but very clean, near the water and within walking distance to downtown. Plus it had a parking lot. Included breakfast.
