Cozy Hotel right in town

We stayed at the Hylands Burren Hotel for 2 nights during our Ireland bike tour. One of the days was our 'rest' day. The desk was staffed with friendly people eager to answer any questions. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfast (included with our stay) was the typical large 'Irish breakfast'. The difference here was the pastries. Save room for the chocolate crussants!

Unique Quality: Hotel has it's own attached pub. Meals were very good and as I remember, the deserts were even better. The hotel is in the center of the little town of Ballyvaughan. There are shops/pubs and grocery stores nearby. The desk was staffed with friendly people eager to answer any questions. One evening during our stay, a local storyteller entertained in the dining room.

Irish cooking is just the best!

Both of these places reside in the centre of the village and they both serve excellent food. O'Briens serve basic, wholesome pub food (i.e almost everything with chips) where as the Hyland Hotel tends to serve food that is more up-market. O'Briens: - phone 065 7077003, opposite Spar shop. This pub also offers bed & breakfast accomodation

Best food:- Great big 1inch (25mm) thick burger in a bun.

Hylands Burren Hotel: - phone 065 7077037. Found on T junction in middle of village, this family run hotel & pub dates back from the 18th century and has been run by the same family for the past 8 generations. (www.hylandsburren.com)

Best food: - Steak

Note: - most places seem to finish serving food around 8-8.30pm. If you get caught out and arrive back here late (as we did – burst tyre!), this place serves food to 9.30pm.
