Sleepy Hollow: Great little B & B
This small B & B within 5 minutes walking distance of the town centre is neat. Elizabeth is a great hostess, the rooms are small but more than adequate and the breakfast is great. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Clare, give this one a go, especially if you're going to Lahinch, Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle, etc. The Burren is also within easy reach.

Forest View: A Bit Far Out of Town
Had a brief fright when the owner said that they did not have my gulliver.ie reservation but it was sorted out. Nice place. It would have been nicer to have been a bit closer to downtown. It is not within walking distance.

NewPark House: Ennis's Slice of Eden
NewPark house is located on the outer edge of Ennis but still convenient to the city centre. It is accessed by a long private drive which opens out into another era.
We were given two rooms which shared a veranda. The rooms were done in period antiques. We were greeted by Declan, who took our luggage and assured us that all would be settled in to our rooms upon our return from the Arans three day hence, and his Mother. Declan provided us excellent directions to reach Doolin and our Ferry out.
Upon our return to NewPark and Ennis after enjoying Inis Mor, they provided us with the names of several restaurants at which to dine, told us which pubs to venture into and which ones weren't worth our time.
They were most delighted with our impromptu performance for the rest of their guests and a few neighbors, which was held in their period decorated drawing room.
Prior to leaving the states, I had to cancel the only credit card that I have. The new card was to have been sent fed-ex to the hotel I was staying in prior to my departure. It didn't make it. We showed up at NewPark and I was in a panic. Our hosts assured us that everything would be fine, offered to spot us until it came in and danced a jig with me when it finally showed up.
It truly felt like we were leaving family upon our departure
Unique Quality: NewPark is a 300+ year old Manor house set in its own private grounds. The NewPark Irish Setter will be thrilled to take you on a tour of the place once you have settled in to your room.
It is decorated in period antiques. Every bedroom is ensuite. One of ours had a canopy bed and a fainting couch. The men proved to be better fainters than we gals, as they demonstrated the proper technique.
As in any house of this age, there is a ghost in residence, but she is friendly and tends to stay in the two rooms which share the veranda.
The veranda was a delightful place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or to share conversations and plan the next day's adventure before drifting off to sleep.
The breakfasts were outstanding. The hosts were very accommodating for my food allergies.

Carbery Bed & Breakfast: Wished we rented a car.
We booked this B&B from home not realizing that there are others closer to town. We did walk to and from town but it may be far if you have children or lots of luggage. The hospitality of the owners more than made up for the distance. Somehow our luggage got soaked in the plane so we hung our clothes up all over the room to dry. When we returned we found all our stuff dryed and folded on the bed.
Unique Quality: The traditional Irish breakfast is served.

Abbey Tourist Hostel: County Club overlooking the River Fergus
I stayed at this hostel on two different occasions during my summer in Ireland. It was a lovely place to stay, very clean and comfortable, and within easy walking distance of everything in the town.
Unique Quality: There was a very large kitchen with plenty of space to cook and eat. The building has lots of twists, turns and passages, so take note of where you're going or you just might get lost inside!
