Old Ground Hotel: Hotel in Ennis

by Peter-S

There are a number of hotels in Ennis : http://ennishotels.ebookireland.com
The Old Ground is my favourite.
Food is excellent.

It is in a central location. Perfect for touring County Clare.
Also convenient to Shannon Airport

Sycamore House: Our 1st night B&B, in Ennis...

by danmcf

This 1st B&B was recommended by Michelle @ Terry Flynn Tours (who arranged our car rental & non-Dublin accommodations).
We booked early, and when I tried re-confirming a week before departure I didn't get any response initially. Since this was the only B&B that didn't require a credit card # as deposit, and was our 1st night in Ireland - I was a bit concerned. No need though, Seamus did get in touch with me before our departure.

We were greeted graciously upon our very early arrival just after 9am. Not only was our room ready, but Seamus also offered us breakfast, though we declined. Jet lag wasn't getting to us so we decided to head right on out for the Cliffs of Moher.

Couple unique qualities here, one mentioned above, and the other being that Seamus was the only male 'managing' a B&B (husband was around at a couple of others, but the 'lady of the house' was definitely in charge).
Plenty of parking, and our 1st 'Irish Breakfast' was so big, I couldn't finish it (I asked for smaller portions for all future 'Irish Breakfasts').

We were lucky to be in Ennis when some sort of Irish Dance Competition was going on at the Temple Gate Hotel. Stopped by to see some very talented young dancers that would give those "lord of the dance" pro's a run for their money.

The one disappointment my daughter had was that this was the only B&B without a hair dryer in the room.

Paddy's Doolin Hostel

by Krumlovgirl

I have stayed at Paddy’s Doolin Hostel several times and have been pleased each time. It is a loud, noisy hostel, but not necessarily because it is a party hostel. It tends to get a lot of school groups. Still, it is located at the far end of Doolin, across from one of the pubs and some small shops, and the bus stop is located right in front of it. The shop inside the hostel sells various groceries and bus tickets. The hostel has always been clean and the management friendly. The kitchen is unusually large for a hostel of its size and there is a laundry facility.

There is easy access to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, and the Aran Islands from this hostel. The ferry service to the islands is only about a ten minute walk away.

Doolin - Camping: A great Camping-site in Doolin

by globetrott

There is a great Camping-site in Doolin, directely at the (rocky) beach/cliffs and not far from all the great music-pubs in Doolin.Next to the camping-site you may play Golf on a 18 Hole Pitch and Putt course .
Nagle's Doolin Camping and Caravan Park,
in Doolin Co. Clare / Ireland.
is open between may 1st and September 30th
their shop is open from June 1st to August 31st

The ferry to the Aran-Islands is leaving in just a short distance of maybe 200 meters and the village of Doolin with all the great music-pubs is not much further. I spent a few days there, while I explored the Aran Islands and the Burren and enjoyed it a lot !

Ashgrove House Bed and Breakfast: Warm Welcomes and Remembered Faces

by nynaeve1723

We have stayed with Frank and Sheila Tiernan on both trips to Ireland and will be staying with them again on our next trip. The Tiernans are welcoming and conscientious hosts. Being close to Shannon Airport, they accept visitors earlier than the usual check-in for those travelers arriving bleary-eyed after long flights. The rooms are cosy, pleasantly decorated and well-stocked. The entire house is a model of cleanliness and the Tiernans are wonderfully helpful, from carrying in luggage, to making reservations for guests at the Bunratty evening banquet to even providing wake-up reminders after that much needed refresher nap. Nights are quiet and peaceful and breakfasts are hearty and delicious. In the Bunratty area this is the only place we would stay and we recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in that area!

The proximity to Bunratty Castle, Bunratty Folk Park and Durty Nellie's Pub make this location ideal. You are barely 5 minutes from a major highway, yet the surroundings are so tranquil you feel a million miles from the everyday world. Ashgrove House is also a nice touring base for County Clare.

Horseshoe Farm B&B: Downtown Doolin

by Bwana_Brown

Horseshoe B&B is a somewhat deceptive name since there is nothing farm-like about this B&B house. It is located almost in the central part of Doolin beside the main highway through the village and not very far from the main pub and entertainment area. They have ample parking in their spacious front and side lots.

This is a very well run B&B with first rate rooms and amenities. They served a great breakfast and the location is also very conveniently close to the main tourist area of Doolin if you want to take in some Nightlife! In the course of our morning discussions with the owners, they asked me how we came to select their place. I mentioned that I had surfed the internet and pulled the brochure out of my documents to show them what I had found. They were most taken aback at its description of their place as being "gay-friendly" and wondered how that had made it onto the tourist site that was promoting them!

Dromoland Castle: A Beautiful Castle Hotel

by chrissyalex

Being a budget traveler, I usually don't have the opportunity to stay in such luxury. I was traveling in the beginning of December which is way off-season and some of the castle hotels were offering some incredible deals. Here was a prime chance to to stay in a 5 star castle for a night.

Plush white robes, slippers and complimentary chocolates on the pillow. Complimentary Irish whiskey. Beautiful room with a view of the lake , large bathroon .....that even had a phone! Numerous little extras....I can't even remember them all now! Turn down service. an award winning restaurant, a spa , golf course, gorgeous grounds with a lake and woods. A great experience.

The Village Hostel: DOOLIN

by hevbell

Clean, modern, family run hostel in the upper part of Doolin. Only stayed there one night but it was very comfortable and just a short walk from the pub!
