Travel Tips for Kilkee

Signs along the road......

by dustmon

I have an odd collection of photos from around the world where I come across odd or funny signs, and Kilkee has one of my favorites----if you can't read it, it says
"Littering is Filthy and Selfish so dont Do It"
Amen to that.

"A little bit of Info about Kilkee"

Kilkee is one of Ireland's premier tourist centres and is a romantic and festive holiday resort. People from Ireland but also from numerous other countries such as America, Italy, France, Denmark, Germany........ visit here each year. Kilkee is situated on the Atlantic coast of County Clare and the bay is a horseshoe shape with a semi-circular sweep of sand, which slopes very gently into the bay. With the warmth of the Gulf Stream and protected by the Atlantic by a reef across the mouth of the bay, Kilkee has a reputation as the safest bathing place in Ireland, and the beach has been awarded the 'Blue Flag' by the European Community in recognition of its clear water. The town boasts a lively nightlife, with many pubs and 2 nightclubs. The two hotels are in prime positions with the Ocean Cove Hotel being situated on the beachfront. It doesn't have much shops but there is a town called Kilrush, 5minutes away and a bigger town called ennis only 1hour away... for the ladies who like to shop! It is also about 1 hour, 2 hours max away from tourist venues such as Lahinch (FOR SURFERS) and The Cliffs of Moher!

Kilkee is also a popular venue for fishermen, who come here on fishing holidays. But many families who visit here take up fishing for the first time and love it! There is a resevoir here, with fresh water fish, which can be safer for children... Classes and competitions are held throughout the Summer. And then there is fishing in the sea.... there is angling on the beach... stuff like that! I sound like I know but really I don't..... If that stuff interests you go to http://www.fishing.westclare.net/ All the info is there!!
