Lovely new Hilton
by TripAdvisor Member toneer
Stayed here for business on the exec floor. Building is not much to look at from the outside in my opinion but is really nice when you get inside. Check-in was pleasant and efficient and it wasnt long before I was in my shiny new exec room. The corridors and exterior doors reminded me of the Hilton KL by the way, lovely dark wood everywhere. Not sure if this is throughout or just on the exec floor.
Inside the exec room was great. Spacious, well appointed with a large and very comfortable bed. Everything you need is in there amenities-wise, and the usual philips lcd is on hand, though there werent many decent channels to watch.
Hotel restaurant was a bit hit and miss - the first night was great but the second night both the food and the service were below average. It was a shame because the first night showed me how good it could be.
Exec lounge was a real let down. A small room with no views, and no free internet access. The wine was awful when i went in there on the first evening, but I mentioned this and the following night it was changed to a slightly better bottle, which was nice of them. Food was so-so...breakfasts were certainly much better than evenings. The downstairs bar was very pleasant though, and the Guiness was delicious!
Gym and pool area were a real bonus, nice equipment, not too busy and a real treat at the end of the working day.
Overall I really enjoyed my stay in the Hilton Limerick and would recommend it to anyone I knew travelling there, for business or pleasure.
Good location, nice rooms with good views

Our stay didn't get off to a good start. I had prepaid our room 21 days in advance - this was supposed to be a non-refundable payment to secure a low rate. The rate was 117 euros which I see from other reviews was actually quite expensive. When we got to the hotel they said that I hadn't paid and that they would need my credit card again! I couldn't understand why they did not email me to alert me to this situation. Front desk staff didnot handle this situation well at all and I nearly walked out on them which would have been a shame. The hotel is in a great location just a walk across the Shannon into town. The room was very comfortable and had a great view of the castle and the river. We had a meal in the bar, the service was excellent - I'm sorry that I didn't take the waiter's name - this guy was great and worth his weight in gold to the Hilton. The car parking was free but I think that is a temporary situation until the development is complete. The manager knew they had not handled this well and sent up a very nice bowl of fruit. When I settled the bill, they had tried to charge me 160 euros but luckily had recognised their mistake. I would definitely go back to this hotel - but I would make sure that I got a better rate and that I took my receipt with me.
Nice room, good location

Stayed here the night before our flight out of SNN, which works well. Airport is 20 minutes down the road with minimal opportunity for traffic. Would stay here again if faced with a similarly early flight out of Shannon.
Hotel is very new (3-4 months at this point). Very clean, nice fixtures, etc.
Parking is in under-ground garage. I paid 7 EUR for this privilege, looks like others have been luckier. . . . .
Ate dinner in the bar, service a bit slow, but the food was good (recommend the Thai chicken curry).
Included breakfast was good as well.

Nice location but still a lot to learn
by TripAdvisor Member ChocFrog75
I was part of a group who organised a conference at this hotel in September 2007. It's a lovely place andi n a beautiful location, but it still has a lot to learn when it comes to event management. The reception staff were unable to direct delegates to the right meeting rooms for the entire duration of the conference (5 days). Internet access was very expensive to provide for the conference: I would have expected that such a hotel would provide this service for free for conference delegates, but this was not the case.
However, the catering for the over 150 people attending was superb: excellent food and great variety.
Nice, very comfortable

Very confortable, nice executive room - very quiet, no noise from traffic or ground floor.
Staff excellent - professional, polite, as expected from Hilton.
Breakfast seems to cause a bit of a panic with the dining room staff - leads to 10 minute queues for guests until tables are cleared, table service can be slow, but if polite and gracious.
A bit disappointing that the hotel charge you up to 10 euros to park in their own underground car park - this should be complimentary for guests in my opinion.
Bar is a little small for an irish hotel - comfortable, but lacks enough seating on a saturday night when it is frequented by non-guests. Two lareg plasma screen TVs and a 'live' musician with over-loud pub formula guitar music detracts from the Hilton experince, is not required. Perhaps a piano lounge would be more appropriate, it is not a pub after all.
Other wise hotel is lovely, short walk to Limerick shopping and dining areas.
Hotel food is OK, dinner especially so, breakfast is more of the 'airport buffet' formula.
Overall to be recommended - not badly priced, get a special offer directly from hotel's own website !
Fabulous Hotel

We have just returned from weekend stay at the Limerick Hilton.
Was very impressed by this hotel from the first moment we stepped into the reception area. The Manager Allessandro was very pleasant, helpful and courteous and so were all the staff - the bedrooms were very spacious and nicely decorated. Bathrooms were beautiful with separate baths and walk in showers. The food in the restaurant was first class and the snacks in the cafe bar were lovely. This was the best hotel we (all 4 of us) have ever stayed in in Ireland and we would love to return there as soon as possible...... Evening entertainment on Saturday and Sunday night was very enjoyable.....Kate who works in the cafe bar was also very pleasant and helfpful....
