More about Fitzgerald's Vienna Woods Hotel
Enjoyed our stay at Vienna Woods Hotel
My wife and myself recently stayed at the Vienna Woods Hotel in Cork. We found it charming and set in beautiful grounds which added to our relaxing stay. Parts of the hotel are old and certainly in need of doing up but that didn't spoil our stay. Our room was clean, comfortable and the food was excellent from the breakfast to the evening meal. I never tasted a nicer steak. The staff were extremely courteous and could not do enough for us, telling us where to go during the day, the best places to eat while travelling around Cork and this really made our short break to Cork so enjoyable. The only problem is that in the evening it is so quiet which suits if you have had a tiring day seeing the sights but if not then you've no choice but to head out into Cork city for some musical entertainment. Give this hotel a try if you wish to use it as a base for travelling around before returning to put your feet up.
We had a few days off last week so decided to take a trip to
Cork. We were travelling out the Glanmire road and came
upon a big white sign saying "Under New Management"
Vienna Woods Hotel. We had stayed in this hotel a few
years ago and were anxious to see if things had changed.
We were pleasently surprised.
The Reception area was so much brighter, and the Reception
staff were very friendly. We were lucky to get a double room
as it was a very busy weekend, We checked into our room which
was very spacious and bright with plenty of natural light coming
in from the large windows. This hotel is set in a fantastic area with acres of wood all around it, very peaceful.
We ate in the Conservatory Saturday night and the food
was excellent. Our waiter - Cedric - was very friendly.
The big surprise was on Sunday. We hadnt planned on eating
lunch that day as the breakfast was well and truly sufficient to
see us to the evening, but we wandered into the Function Room, which has been newly built, we were told, and this was set up for Brunch. It was really something to see, the layout and decor of the room was brilliant. There was such an array of food on dispaly, we decided to stay around and partake., and we were not sorry. It was just excellent. I'm sure this Brunch will take off in a big way.
Naturally we were not able for much to eat on the night.
All in all it was an excellent trip, and we will definately be back
to Vienna Woods again, It is now called Fitzgerald's Vienna Woods Hotel.
wedding venue of the year!
we have recently celebrated our wedding in Vienna Woods Hotel and we cant praise this hotel enough!!! Don't know where to begin the staff & particularly Michael Magner have been outstanding and cant thank them enough for their time, dedication & commitment to us right from the begining to the end!we were a little worried last year when the hotel was taken over by the current owners but once we met michael we knew we made the right decision to stick with viennawoods!
Everthing about the hotel was perfect from the food, staff, the reception room inc the bridal suite!
this hotel has a real country manor feel to it and felt so relaxed there even the day after the wedding was very relaxing with all our family around us just chilling out having a bit of sunday brunch!
Overall we felt this hotel was the perfect setting for our dream wedding and the best day of our lives!!!!
fantastic hotel loved the experience
cannot understand previous reviews - great hotel - good food- great service - rooms clean staff friendly- a country like retreat in the city - will definately go back- well done to the new management
what a great place
Having won a voucher for a weekend i was a little hesitant about it having never heard of it before. it was such a lovely charming place. When I booked i mentioned it was my boyfriends birthday, when we checked in we were upgraded to a deluxe room and they had birthday balloons- a small thing but i was very impressed. The whole place is newly taken over and its been refurbished so its lovely and clean duvets on the bed instead of blankets. It was like a big house, very comfortable and excellent friendly staff! The conservatory area in the bar was lovely, and it looked like a great place for a wedding!!! breakfast was great and bar food excellent, had a brilliant time!! Only small thing was the staff were not the best at directions!! but as i say thats only a small thing!!!
Ten out of Ten
Stayed here on a Saturday night recently. There was a great atmosphere when we arrived to check in. Big crowd around for Communion lunches and the attention to detail was unbelievable, they even had a bouncing castle for the children and helium communion balloons on the tables.
There were twenty in our party and we had our meal booked for that night. We were seated in a beautiful private room at one large square table Prior to our stay the chef had put together a special menu which was to die for. It made choosing from it quite a task! We also got great advise in choosing the wine.
Throughout our stay the staff were very helpful friendly and pleasant. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable with crisp bed linen and soft towels. It also made a pleasant change to have a big bath towel to wrap up in!
The owner showed us the changes that have been made since taking over. The function room is very plush - an impressive venue for any occasion. On Sundays they have a buffet lunch in this room. We were fortunate enough to get a preview before we left. There was a wide display of fresh fish and cold meats and the variety of salads was mouthwatering. With a choice of soups, main courses and desserts we definitely plan to return. Well worth checking out.
Overall, we had a fantastic stay. With twenty adults and not one compaint - what more can I say.
Pretty Nice Stay
The room was alright, nothign to write home about. Pretty clean, but had no clock and th tv didn't work. The meal I had in the restaurant was fantastic - the best meal I had my entire visit to Ireland (roast beef, mashed, and mixed vegetables). It's location is kind of inconvenient up on a hill, but I didn't mind. There was a computer with printer and USB hub for business or personal use and a little bar area. It was cold in the room, but it was overall a decent stay.
brilliant hotel, credit to the Fitzgerald family
Just returned from overnight stay at the Vienna Woods, from the minute we arrived it was just superb. The rooms nicely done up and warm, was on the third floor so had a lovely view also. The bar is situated in the regency house, very welcoming. We also booked a meal for the evening, like others mentioned we ate in the conservatory, picked from the set menu, lamb shank to die for, but the other half and a vegetable stir fry for the main menu and there wasn't a problem in changing this. The staff asked on numerous times was everything ok and i can agree that their policy is never to say no to a custamer. There was a wedding on there also and my first thought was that we would hear them into the early hours, but didn't hear a thing. In the morning the buffett breakfast served in the blue room was to die for. I can honestly say the next time i stay it will be for two nights or more. The Fitzgerald family have only taken over this hotel since last September, they also own the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare, Co Limerick and as I come from Limerick and know the reputation they have there I am not one bit suprised to see how well they are doing in the Vienna Woods. So to sum up continued sucess to David and his staff and thanks for such an enjoyable evening.
Fantastic Value for Money, Immaculate attention to detail!
We stayed at the this hotel for 2 nights 17th to 19th August 07 in a Deluxe Room, we got the best rate directly from the hotel website, 112.50euros per night including breakfast. We got married in Las Vegas in May this year, we decided to hold a "post wedding reception" at the Vienna Woods for family friends that couldn't make it out to Vegas. From start to finish the everything was fantastically arranged and the attention to detail was exemplorary. We held our function in the "Blue Room" which was ideal for our group size of 40, we chose the hot buffet menu for our catering needs and this was fantastic value at 28euros per adult, included was a choice of Beef, Chicken and Salmon for the mains, and there was an amazing selection for the Starter course and dessert courses, truly brilliant! The staff could not do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel rooms were adequately furnished, very comfortable bed, satellite tv, great bathroom with powerful shower, the only complaint I could find would be that the bedroom walls were a little thin and you could hear noises from the neighbours.. We would definitely recommend ths hotel, a hire car is necessary to enjoy the location which is just 10 minutes from Cork Centre. Book with confidence and you will enjoy!
