The Kinsley Hotel

It can cost anything from £120 to £350.

Unique Quality: This is one of the most luxurious hotels in Ireland and if you feel like really splashing out then here is where to stay.
It is 5 minutes from the center and has a beautful location on the banks of the river Lee.Beside this hotel there is a large park for relaxing, walking swimming or just to chill out.

More about Kingsley Hotel

Not the 5 Star its supposed to be

by TripAdvisor Member liccletrinity

Stayed for a weekend in early October 2006.
Said there was valet parking - nobody there.
No door man or person to assist with luggage.
Plumbing in bathroom made loud noises all the time.
Shower control fitting was about to fall off wall, water sputing out from it.
No mini bar in room.
Room service menu was very basic and it seemed a huge inconveince for them to make a plain sandwich at 22pm. They couldnt toast the bread because the chef was gone home. I didnt think you had to be qualified chef to toast bread!
The sandwich garnish was extremely stale crips.
They had limited selection of drinks in the bar.
Some staff (not all)were completely rude, unpleasant and unhelpful.
Breakfast and dinner was included in the package. Food was at best tasteless and sometimes awful.

The Kingsley Hotel in Cork was a dreadful experience for myself and my partner. We will never return. In my opinion it is not a 5 star hotel, no where near it in either service or luxury.

Lovely Hotel!

by TripAdvisor Member CAGirl01

We loved this hotel! We had no problems with the bellman or plumbing as some of the others have.

We stayed in Ireland for 11 days and this hotel had the best bed of all hotels - including some very elegant castles we stayed in. The bathroom was nice and the vanity area was far enough away for both my husband and I to get ready with our own mirror :)

The service was excellant and the bartenders gave us great tips for dinner in Cork! Excellant Italian downtown! Only a 7 Euro charge to be dropped off in the shopping district. We had a great night here!

fabulous hotel

My husband and i stayed at the Kingsley Hotel for 3 wonderful nights in oct/nov. Everything was perfect. The room [ most comfortable bed EVER], staff , food, swimming pool and a fantastic hot tub overlooking the river Lee, very realxing after a hard day at the shops and exploring the beautiful countryside. If we ever visit Cork again we would not hesitate to stay again at The Kingsley.

Short but sweet

My husband and I spent one night at the Kingsley Hotel, the first night of our three week honeymoon in Ireland. Our room was large with very pleasing modern decor and super comfortable bed. The bathroom was spacious and updated, but don't be in a hurry for the shower as it took a very, very long time for the water to get hot. We dined at Otters Restaurant in the hotel and the food was very good. The service was generally friendly, but somewhat inattentive and rather slow. In the morning at breakfast, we were able to sit at a table overlooking the river. What a lovely setting! Overall, we would recommend the hotel as a good value for the price.

Third Stay at Kingsley

by TripAdvisor Member OranGrrl

I stayed in the Kingsley for three nights at the end of December 2006. It was my third time to stay at the hotel and I enjoyed it as much as on previous occasions. Rooms are warm and welcoming with great beds and bathrooms. Breakfast is good too, with buffet and menu options. One gripe: the reception area is somewhat small and crowded, but that's a minor issue.

Overall fantastic stay

by TripAdvisor Member Kate68

My husband and I traveled to Ireland from the States for holiday and stayed 10 days at the Kingsley hotel. We got in late on our first night and woke up to a beautiful view of the river. The food was exceptional and the staff fantastic. The room itself - although it had some wear and tear - was clean and comfortable. The best part was how quiet the room was at all times of the day or night. Because we were jetlagged, our sleep schedules were very strange and despite construction going on in the street at the front of the hotel, we never heard it at any time.

One night my husband couldn't sleep so he went downstairs and the night manager, Gerald, gave him coffee and scones and drew up a travel itinerary for us for the next day. On the day we left (4:30am wake up time) the staff gave us coffee and scones before we left for the airport. The maitre de knew us and what we had every morning for our beverages (coffee for my husband and hot chocolate for me) and the staff was always very helpful.

The location is great for traveling around the southern part of Ireland. We traveled all the way from there to the Ring of Kerry and to Waterford and the Kingsley was a great place to come back "home" to.

I read about the construction going on last year and I must say that all the work they did was very worth it. I assume the bar was either remodeled or new and it's wonderful to sit in at night or on Sunday for lunch.

So, overall, I'd highly recommend the Kingsley whether you're staying one night or several.

Excellent Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member djb0151

My partner and I have just returned from a long weekend in Cork and we had a marvellous stay at the Kingsley.
We asked for and got a river room view which was lovely, the service and standard of accomodation was first class.
Breakfast was superb as were the meals servred in the River bar and lounge.

The refurbishment is now complete and the health suite and club are worth a visit,my partner had several treatments in the suite and found it extremely relaxing.

We stayed Fri and Sat and got the Sun night free(b&b) but check all web sites,expedia,hotel.com etc because not all of them had the 3rd night free.

Its about 20 min walk to the city center but we got taxi`s which varied between 5 euro`s - 9 euros and was only 5mins.
Contrary to what we had read on here, the service we recieved not only in the hotel but everywhere was excellent, friendly and helpful.
Kinsale is well worth a visit but gets very very busy in the summer.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Great weekend break

by TripAdvisor Member suewestcork

We had a superb weekend break at the Kingsley Hotel. Grandmother, Granddaughter 2 years old and parents. We had a lovely lunch at the busy bar overlooking the river. Then while we took the two year old for an explore along the river bank Mum went for 'the best massage ever' in the calm welcoming Ayurveda Spa (gentle, skilled staff took her into another world) - she had to be dragged away for teatime. We went for a family swim in the lovely pool (great jacuzzi, hydro pool and a small one for the child) The rooms in the new wing are sumptuous with all the trappings of a 5 star hotel - 42" plasma screen, surround sound, DVD etc, large comfortable bed, coffee pod and great batheroom with two basins, deep bath and separate power shower. In the morning we really appreciated the buffet and the choice of fresh cooked Irish breakfasts. Wish I hadn't had to leave on Monday! Sue, West Cork.
