SkyLink Cork Airport Express

by suvanki

Outside the Arrivals gate, turn Right, and you'll see the yellow bus (or the bus stop sign) for the Cork City Express, which runs a shuttle service from the airport to Cork City, 7 days a week.

Purchase your ticket from the driver-

Adult Single -5 euros - Return 8 euros
Student " " 3.50 euros 6 euros valid card needed
Child 2.50 euros 5 euros
Family 12 euros 19 euros 2 adults, 2 children
Under 3's Free

The driver was very friendly - He gave me a map of Cork, and a timetable, and asked where I was going, I gave him the name of my hostel.

Unfortunately, I was so engrossed in his conversation with a family, and looking at the view, that I missed my stop - I was heading back to the airport! He stopped and directed me back to where I needed to be- just a short distance to walk luckily!

There are 2 routes

ROUTE 1 -Via Mc Curtain Street.

Starts at 04.20 and runs 'til 00.15. Most runs stop at ;
JURYS INN (for Clarion Hotel and Parnell Place)
PATRICKS QUAY (City Centre and Victoria Hotel)
QUALITY HOTEL (Shandon and Kinlay House)
ISAACS HOTEL (Gresham Hotel, Sheilas Hostel, BRU Hostel)
JURYS INN and
Airport.

ROUTE 2 - Via Western Road

Starts at 04.50 and runs 'til 23.00
GRAND PARADE (City Centre and Tourist Office)
JURYS HOTEL (Lancaster Lodge, Western Rd B&B's, UCC )
SOUTH MALL (Imperial Hotel, Victoria Hotel)
AIRPORT

From 08.30 Route 1 leaves the airport on the 1/2 hour (i.e 09.30, 10.30 etc) and from 0900 Route 2 leaves on the hour (i.e 10.00, 11.00 etc)

Reporting on Cork in June

by rfi02

Dear friends,

I am just planning my newspaper and radio report on Cork, which will be the European Capital of culture 2005. I am a free lance journalist reporting for media in Germany and Switzerland. I will be in Cork from June 15th to 20th. For my trip, I am cooperating with local tourist marketing associations, but oftenly they do not know the best places "off the beaten path" or people doing interesting things in the city like artists, writers etc.. Thanks for any advice on the city and its surroundings.
If anybody of you is living in Cork or will be in town from June 15-20, 2004, let me know. I would be happy to see you there.
best wishes to all of you out of the wonderfuill springtime in Germany

Yup, me too - happy to meet and give you the low down (as long as Holger and yourself agree to speak English !!).

There is a very good Theatre Company here that have a play on at that time (I think) and they have organised a joint venture with Polish and German groups for 2005. Could be a good 'framework' to hang your story on.

Hi

you could contact an organisation called Leargas - www.leargas.ie - they are a national organisation, based in Dublin, that fund projects at school and community levels between Ireland and other European countries. There could well be some interesting European activities taking place that you could visit.

If you want a named contact send me an e-mail.
