More about Maldron Hotel Cork
Wonderful hotel,
by TripAdvisor Member DeirdreDee
Myself and my daughter went on a shopping trip to Cork City last year. It was a spur of the moment, last minute job, so this was the only available decent hotel with a vacancy. On arrival we were completely gobsmacked. We have never stayed in such a clean room. Absolutely spotless. No manky old smelly blankets here - all freshly laundered linen - it would have to be, as it was all white - even the duvet. We had dinner in the hotel that first night -delicious. Breakfast was OK - usual buffet style. Staff were genuinely friendly and on checkout told us to leave our bags with them until later,so we wouldn't have to drag them round till evening flight back home. This was a blessing and a generous offer which we took up. The area was very safe, we saw no aggro, noticed no graveyard. We were out walking late on our own and did not feel vunerable. In fact we would consider this to be safer than our own turf. We are back again next month (September) and boy are we looking forward to it.
Great Location, Lovely Rooms

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Quality hotel for 3 nights in September - we were very pleased with the location. The town centre is literally 5 minutes walk away. The rooms were spacious and very clean and comfortable. The pool/sauna area was also very clean. You have to pay EUR10.00 per person for breakfast which we only did once and it was very nice. I would highly recommend this hotel.
The Quality Inn - Was Quality!

I visited this hotel the past week-end as part of a fairly responsible and well behaved 'stag party' of 21 ranging in ages from 25 - 55. We arrived on the friday night at 9.30 and the service at the reception was excellently processed. We were up and out to enjoy the delights of Cork in no time. When we returned later to enjoy the delights of the residents bar the service was again excellent and courteous and as long as you behaved yourself they would serve you.
You get quite mixed reviews about this hotel on the site, but I think some people just love to have a good moan. All of the party commented on how much they enjoyed the hotel and most commented that they would quite willingly be visiting again with their wives/partners (female)! I personally couldn't fault it, the staff, the service, the cleanliness, the breakfast and two of the younger lads said the leisure facilities were good aswell!
Last time we went to Cork we stayed at the travelodge because it was a longer stay and the cheaper option. But next time I will pay the extra for the Quality Inn.
Pop the Cork!! Good hotel

This Hotel gets 4 * from us. We stayed here for 3 nights over st Paddys weekend. The hotel is in a good location near to the Shandon tower and just up a small hill from the River Lee in the town centre.
We stayed on the 5th floor and the view was good over the city. There is a building site accross from the hotel at the moment but the noise is not loud. the local boy racers in their knackered old Novas where more anoying screaming round the streets!!!
We booked our room through Expedia and received the 3rd night for free.
We did not bother paying for the 10 euro breakfast as there are cheaper places a short walk away off St Patricks street in town.
The room was a medium size with a double bed. There was a 2nd single bed as well. the bathroom was ok as well however there was a bit of a drains smell.
The bar was good and the barman very friendly.... well everyone is friendly in Cork!!
Of note for restaurants in Cork please please visit Scoozis. Its reasonable, excellent fast service and the food is fantastic.
Hope it all helps!!
Would recommend it
Great weekend
by TripAdvisor Member elainejo
What a lovely hotel We have just come back from spending a long weekend here at this hotel, the food was excellent, accommodation excellent the staff were really nice there was the odd one or two on reception that could do with a few more customer relation courses but on the whole would recommend this hotel to anyone. The town centre was only a five minute walk to all the shops, bars and restaurants. My husband and I had a great weekend and are now booking a weekend at the same chain of hotels in Dublin for July. You must pay a visit to the Cork Gaol its a bit of a walk (going is uphill) but pleasant but the tour is really worth seeing.
OK

May 13-2007. Easy to find hotel. Small parking (maybe 20 places) not suitable for very large cars. Hotel is in rebuild old building on a hill by the river.Room nr 109, vieuw on the front. Large room (double bed and single for 3 adults). bathroom ok. hairdryer in a drawer in the room. Bar is OK and prices also. Spa is free for hotel clients. Do not forget your headcaps! costs 3€. Spa is full equipped: pool, sauna, hammam and jacuzzi.Open til 10 p.m. (22 h) We eat in restaurant but this was disapointing. Plates not warm, potatoes also. Breakfast average. Positive: 100 meters down the street, over the bridge and you are in the Opera House and commercial centers. I choosed this hotel for the price (3 adults >89 € with booking.com) , the free spa and the parking.
I can recommend this hotel.

Just got back Now i need a HOLIDAY!

Myself and five friends have just returned from Cork today, staying at the Quality Hotel.
We had requested rooms on the same floor.
We were put on different floors.
One room 321 had mites flying around, three times we asked for the staff to spray the room.
Room 412 must have been the noisiest room in the hotel, my mum and i had no sleep during our stay.
Doors banging, people outside our door shouting in to a mobile phone at 5.25 a.m Hotel phone rang 4 times during the early hours. I complained to the staff at reception but they just looked at you and smiled nicely.
All the rooms were very stuffy even though the weather was not that warm.
I requested a menu from the bar on Sunday evening and i am still waiting now for it.
Room 401 was also very noisy if it is raining there is a dripping sound all night with a dog barking in the background.
Only one payphone in the reception area and that was broken.
One positive the food at breakfast is very nice if you can stay awake long enough to enjoy it.
Would not stay at this hotel again and do not recommend it.
One last thing if you are on the 4th floor and you do not like to use the lift (which is very small) then good luck on the stairs because you will not find the 4th floor.
Not bad
by TripAdvisor Member limerickros
Stayed 2 nights on 2 different occasions in June & July 2007.
Rooms were not bad, a bit warm/stuffy.
The location is excellent only 5 minutes walk into town.
Ask for a room not facing the road as one of the rooms I stayed in was a bit noisy at night.
Not impressed

Stayed in room509. The toilet was broken and was moving like a rocking chair. Reported same to reception who said they would have someone to look at it later. Went into town and came back later on to no fixed toilet. Went down again to complain, no-body was around to fix it at that time. Went back to the room to find that the key card system had failed and were locked out for approx. 4hrs. Was offered some free drink and cheese sandwiches while they were waiting to get it fixed. Eventually got to bed and we were not the only ones in this situation.
The next day went down to complain about the wobbly toilet (which had gotten so bad we had to resort to using another room that was booked with our group) Again they said they would have somone up to look at it straight away and again this didn't happen. I then met with 2 people who were in our group to be told they went down for breakfast at 11.05 and were told they stopped serving at 11 and couldn't get it even though there was still the breakfast buffet laid out. Will definately not be going back.
