More about Rivermount House B&B
One of the Best!

Though the Irish weather was a bit cold, rainy and drafty In Kinsale in March, our welcome and stay at Rivermount was warm and inviting. As noted in the previous reviews, our hosts, Claire and Martin consistently went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The views truly are spectacular and the breakfast (to order) was one of our best meals we had in Ireland. I highly recommend Rivermount and hope to return some day.
beautiful views, gracious hostess

Thr Rivermount has one of the most spectacular views. The B&B overlooks the Bandon River and magnificent green hills beyond.
Claire is the epitomy of Irish hospitality. She is gracious, helpful and endearing with a laugh that could light up a room. Claire's daughter, Kate, was also anxious to help out. We were a family of four adults traveling together. We were given a suite of rooms which made our stay extremely comfortable and relaxing. Our breakfast was delicious and filling.
The B&B is close to the town of Kinsale which makes sightseeing very easy. Claire's directions to Blarney Castle and Cork City were accurate and easy to follow, making those spots an easy day's excursion from Rivermount.
Claire called numerous B&Bs to find accommodations for us when she realized that the original B&B that we had booked for our next stop did not exist in the city that a guide book had listed it. That kind gesture saved us many hours of looking for a B&B that was not even close to our destination.
Beautiful scenery, homey atmosphere and gracious hostess

We found the Rivermount House in our Town & Country B&B Guide and could not have been happier with our choice. Claire is about as bubbly and friendly a woman as you can find. She was more than happy to give us suggestions for dinner and shopping in town. (That said, be sure to check out Hoby's for dinner in Kinsale.)
Our room was very large and comfortable with a beautiful view of the river and countryside. It is only a 5 minute drive into town and worth being out of the city. Breakfast was amazing too! There was a huge menu to choose from (the porridge and salmon were excellent) and Claire was always available and happy to meet with all the guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rivermount and wish we could have stayed for multiple nights. A beautiful and relaxing place to stay if ever traveling to Kinsale!
a great find

a five minute drive from kinsale village ( some better directional signs needed) but the place ,is worth finding, the view overlooking the bandon river, is in itself worth it all, claire the owner personifies the true meaning of a "gracious hostess"

Don't expect a room if you are using travel vouchers
by TripAdvisor Member kcrafty
While traveling in Ireland, we drove to Mrs. O'Sullivan's B&B. The door was answered by a well dressed woman. We inquired if she had a ensuite room for one evening. She asked how we would be paying and we told her with travel vouchers.
Then she said she was full for the evening. I asked her if she would be full, if we were paying a different way. She then told us that she wasn't the hostess but a fill- in for the hostess and said that how we were paying did not make a difference. We didn't believe her but she did us a favor as we travelled a short way from her. We booked into a wonderful, welcoming B&B
Lovely B&B

We stayed at the Rivermount House B&B for two nights while visiting Kinsale. The B&B was very clean, the hostess friendly and the breakfasts were delicious, especially the pancakes. The view from the sunroom is beautiful . The B&B is located on a country road @ 2 miles from the town of Kinsale so you would have to drive into town. I would recommend Rivermount House to anyone travelling to Kinsale.
Vouchers gladly accepted

I was sorry to read the review in regards to the person who said vouchers were not accepted at Rivermount-I had totally the opposite experience. I phoned two days ahead and had absolutely no problems booking a room, vouchers were gladly accepted. In fact we had such a beautiful stay we asked at the last minute if we could stay another night and even though our room was booked Claire made the arrangements to book us for another night. I would surmise that the reason she was inquiring whether this person had vouchers was to help to refer her to another B & B that takes vouchers -which happens frequently. I would highly recommend Rivermount House and the village of Kinsale is a wonderful spot to visit and to wander around. Rivermount is definitely a AAA.

Fantastic!

The room was beyond our expectations... Travelling with 3 kids under 4 - I was a bit apprehensive about booking adjoining rooms in a B&B but after ringing Claire before we left and being reassured it was all fine and she would provide everything for the kids I was relieved. On our arrival we were given a 2 bedroom ensuite at the end of the house which was fantastic. Our rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels (same standard as a 4/5* hotel) Claire provided cots for our two youngest in one of the bedrooms and a high chair in the dining room for breakfast every morning. The breakfast was delicious and we ate so much that we didn't want to eat for the rest of the day!! Everybody who works at Rivermount have a smile on their face and couldn't have been more helpful. We were even given suggestions on where to go on rainy days and sightseeing adventures on sunny days. The views from the house were stunning and well worth being a short drive outside of Kinsale as blissfully quiet. Can highly recommend this B&B to anyone - extremely friendly and helpful. Our girls didn't want to leave!
Just perfect...if you have a car.

We stumbled on the Rivermount House using Tripadvisor - with MUCH success! All of our travel guru's suggestions were booked. This was my favorite hotel of our entire trip to Ireland!
The rooms were clean with little extra touches, the breakfast was wonderful (pancakes!), and this is the only B&B we stayed in that has complimentary internet access (they suggest you make a small donation, but it is not required and the bowl is right next to the computer, so no pressure. It makes you want to donate.). We were able to check-in early, which was a nice bonus. The view from outside was beautiful - you really feel like you are away from the city and in your own world. The only downside - you need to have a car (or take cabs). It is too far from Kinsale city center to walk, and there is no walking path.
All in all, an excellent B&B, highly recommended.
excellent place .

Great experience! My family and I stayed here for one night in summer 06. Our room was huge with one double bed and one single bed. The bathroom was also one of the biggest I've ever been in and was spotless. The people working there were extremely friendly, as they seem to be everywhere in Ireland. The breakfast was very good with lots of selection.
