Spend a night in History

From the moment I walked in the door, I could sense the history of the home. Sovereign house is a Queen Anne style residence built in 1706. James is absolutely the most charming of hosts.

The bedrooms are over the top! I had a four poster canopied bed in my room that made me feel like a princess. The shower was deliciously pounding and plentifully hot.

There is a game room upstairs where a short while was spent at the billiards table.

Sovereign house truly is a feast for the eyes. It is filled with Jacobean style furnishings and artworks, original fireplaces and its secret garden.

James took great care wth breakfast to make sure that nary a mushroom or any type of seafood accosted my plate.

Unique Quality: A period stairway leads to a secret terraced garden

Unique B&B

The property was once home to two of Kinsale's most famous Sovereigns, Anthony Stallwell and William Newman who was Kinsale's longest serving Sovereign. Hence the name of the B&B.

James the owner is very charming. He was out when we arrived but had left a note on the door that he was nearby at the Greyhound.

Unique Quality: This wonderful Queen Anne house dating from 1706 oozes charm and character and must be visited to appreciate it's exquisite qualities. The superb Jacobean Hallway leads to Drawing Room, Kitchen/Breakfast Room, Dining Room, Reading Room and Study. A period stairway leads to a secret terraced garden at the first return of the stairs.

Upstairs there is a full Games Room and 6 wonderful Bedrooms 5 of which have en-suite Victorian Bathrooms.

James served one of the best breakfasts we had the entire trip - with gourmet cheeses and other goodies.
