More about The Old Presbytery

Great Time!

by TripAdvisor Member Chabu2

We had really nice stay at The Old Pres. It's centrally located with parking (which is nice to have in Kinsale). Everything in Kinsale is within walking distance. The rooms are small but comfortable and the breakfast is tasty. This place is a great value for the cost!

Great!

by TripAdvisor Member odie1

My husband, three year old daughter and I just returned from here. The room was very comfortable and clean but just a bit small for the three of us. It was fine for one night and would have been fine for a few but it would have been cramped for a longer stay. The bathroom was nice. Not too much space for toiletries but otherwise just fine. The on site parking was a plus as was the location. Just outside the busy part of downtown but totally within a five minute walk to the harbor and even less to some of the great restaurants in the area. Breakfast was very good. It was in a nice room, cooked to order plus a small continental breakfast bar as well. I would definitely recommend it.

terrific

We stayed here for 2 nights while attending a friends wedding in a nearby hotel and truly loved it. Noreen i think the owners name was so nice as well as her staff. Our room was lovely and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was to die for with everything from the breads and cereals (for soakage for later) to a full irish breakfast(great hangover cure).
It is situated in the town centre and about a 5-10 minute walk from the pier depending on how energetic you feel.
I would definatly stay at this b+b again and the fact that there is off street parking is a real bonus as in kinsale parking is a real problem.

High-class hospitality

by TripAdvisor Member TravelBear12

We'd booked a basic family room (for three people) at this B&B for late August, and were stunned and delighted when we arrived to find out we'd been upgraded to a suite. This wasn't just a larger room -- it was a two-story apartment, essentially, with spiral staircase, daybeds, chandaliers and two full bathrooms. It was great since it was me and my fiancee and his father -- we had our own bedroom.
The young man manager on duty was very helpful in suggesting restaurants based on our tastes and even booked our reservations for us.
The B&B is centrally located and within walking distance of everything.
The breakfast here was the biggest -- and one the best -- we had on our 10-day trek through Ireland. Oh, and they even have a computer with Internet so you can check your email.
Fantastic place!

Great location, wonderful hospitality

by TripAdvisor Member ALil'Irish!

We stayed in Kinsale in early September of 2006 two nights at the Old Pres. It was a wonderful property, close to everything (Kinsale is small and very walkable). The Old Pres was perfect. A wonderful, homey atmosphere, simply fabulous full Irish breakfasts, and wonderful hosts. She made great recommendations on restaurants and was very pleasant each time we spoke. The price was reasonable. Kinsale itself was absolutely wonderful - the best food in all of Ireland as far as I am concerned.

All tops!

From the making of the booking (via the B&B's website, to the reception, the room & spa-bath, internet facilities, breakfast & departure - our experience was extremely positive. The location is ideal - many of the other B&B's we saw while walking through this charming town are rather out of the way. The Old Presbytery is just far enough from the centre of town not to be spoilt by noise, but close enough for a lovely walk through the charming streets - no need for a car - keep it parked in the safe, off the road parking area. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

Great place!

Old Pres is excellent. We had room 1 which is on the first floor, down a private hall. It had a beautiful brass bed with lovely Irish linens. It was a nice sized room with a seating area and had a great bath with a jacuzzi. Everything was spotless. The B & B is located in the middle of town and is a good location for exploring Kinsale. The proprietors are very helpful and friendly. This is a great place to stay!

Charming B & B with a few oddities...

by TripAdvisor Member ca$h_money

I just returned from two weeks in Ireland and The Old Presbytery was one of the nicer B & B's we stayed in. It is very clean and charming and has a really odd, but fun floorplan (hard to explain until you go up the stairway to find your room). One thing I found particularly strange were the multiple doors to enter the room and bathroom (door to enter 4' x 4' entry hall, bedroom door to right, bathroom door to left!) The bathroom was severely underlit and the matresses on the beds were not very comfortable (I'm not sure if it was the matresses or worn out springs on the bed frame). Luckily, I was absolutely exhausted from staying up all night at my brother's wedding reception a Kilkea Castle and had no trouble sleeping despite the mattress. The room was nicely decorated, cozy and breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, we did not stay long enough to use the sitting room, but it looked very inviting. Desmond Castle is almost right across the street (very small, but interesting museum with a really friendly staff to lead short tours). I would defintely stay at The Old Presbytery again and would recommend to others.
