Well the website mentioned here is no longer active http://www.discoverireland.com/us/ireland-things-to-see-and-do/listings/product/?fid=FI_30103 and this would appear to explain why: http://www.karenbrown.com/B&B_Guide/Ireland/Leinster/Dublin/Belcamp_Hutchinson/535.php

Travel Tips for Dublin

Get the first bus/train out of there

by Eric1977

I reserve a hatred for one place on this planet and that place is Dublin. Tell me people whats so mystical and special about a city over run with heroin addiction and petty crime. Home to the stag do of many an uncultured idiot. Which in turn has made sure that the cost of living is nearly beyond the means of the average resident. European Union membership has brought jobs and new roads and unbeknown to most 'tourists' some of these roads lead out of Dublin. Please do your token rip off tours and then make time to see Ireland( while its still there). Examples can be found mainly on the west coast, Kerry, Galway, Clare etc.

So unless of course spending a fortune in an open sewer is what passes as a holiday please avoid this hell on earth. Being mugged twice, once at the bus station and once at Heuston train station. Oh and lets not forget the begging junkies and the extremely irritating taxi drivers. I forgot to mention that lovely fresh smell from the Liffey.

Dublin Tip

by Krystynn

This is a glimpse of how busy Dublin gets during the Christmas period. The weather for the second half of December is kinda...brrr... chilly. But for the first half of December, the weather is FANTASTIC.

Architectural details

by acemj

In terms of majestic and overwhelming architecture, Dublin is not in the same league as cities like Rome or Paris, but don't despair. There are plenty of striking architectural details beyond Georgian doors and dim, oak panelled pubs. Here's a close-up shot of a door at Christ Church Cathedral.

Subtle charms

by acemj

When I made it to the top of the Guinness Storehouse to the Gravity Bar and looked out onto Dublin, I realized that it's not as impressive as looking out at the many domes of Rome or the spires of Prague. But if you look around, you'll see distant, vibrant green hills that could only be Irish. If you walk the streets, you'll see pubs that the whole world tries to copy. And if you venture into one of those pubs and talk with some locals, you'll experience hospitality unmatched.

Looking up Parliament Street towards City Hall

by Kentbein

Looking up Parliament Street towards City Hall.

Parliament Street was the first development of the board of Wide Streets Commissioners, a commission created by an Act of Parliament specifically to develop streets and infrastructure thorughout Dublin. Parliament Street is the route south of the Essex Bridge ending two blocks later at the intersection of Dame Street/Lord Edwards Street and in front of City Hall.
