Dublin International Youth Hostel (Hostelling Inte

It's probably because I stayed here almost a week and a half, but the Dublin Hostel is one of my most favorite Hostelling International Hostels in the world. Its located very conveniently in the heart of Dublin City close to ALL of the tourist attractions, and an easy walk from everything - from the River Libbey, to Temple Bar, to O'Connell, Henry Street, and Trinity College ... It was a perfect meeting place for me and my friends. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, courteous, and considerate. Open 24 hours a day - year round. THe hostel was very clean, comfortable, and you could be guaranteed a good sleep. Free wifi for laptop users, internet kiosks available, deposit boxes, parking, laundry facilities, self-catering kitchen, free continental breakfasts every morning in the old chapel, walking distance to bus and train stations, family, private and dorm rooms, a restaurant, 2 conference rooms, and excellent pricing. Single Room: 35-40 Euro/person; Dorm bed 14-23 Euro. I'll definitely be back to this one! Rating : 5 stars out of 5.

Youth Hostel

Dublin's international youth hostel. In Irish it is called An Oige which means youth but people of any age can stay there. It is the only member of the Hostelling International. This building was orginally a convent and school so probably no need for you to go to mass. Breakfast is served in the former chapel. I have never stayed there myself but friends have and have only heard good reports. The neightbourhood around the area is still a bit dodgy but like every where in the world you have to be careful.

Facilities include: en-suite private rooms, dorms, outside garden with seating and a children's play area. There is also a games room and a book exchange. Dinner and lunch can be served on a request basis for group bookings. 297 rooms. Prices from 28 euro for a single room to 98 for a four bed room.

Unique Quality: Has parking facilities and wi fi

HOSTEL

Dorms €12 Large, clean, comfortable hostel, very helpful friendly staff. Good facilities & security with lockers (although you need to provide (or buy for €3) a padlock) for each bed. Car parking facilities, internet, kitchen & dining areas and breakfast was included.

Unique Quality: I guess parking is a pretty unique quality for a city centre hostel. Good if you are planning to travel round more of Ireland by car or motorbike

The Dublin International youth Hostel is pretty nice. We stayed in a dorm-type room with a few others. The lobby is a good place to meet people.

We also stayed at Paddy Maloney's Doolin Hostel. That was nice, but there was no heat!

International Hostel in Dublin

by ArenJo about International Hostel in Dublin

This hostel was very difficult to navigate. That is my biggest gripe and I would not recommend this hostel because there are many other hostels in Dublin that are better.
Pros: Very friendly staff, lots of informational pamplets on the wall about things to do, very clean.
Cons: very hard to find way around, outside of the main part of town, most lockers are broken, never a warm shower.

The HI (IYHA) Dublin...

by worldkiwi

The HI (IYHA) Dublin International Hostel.
Situated to the north of the city centre (about fifteen to twenty minutes easy walk from the river), the HI Dublin Hostel provides friendly and comfy accommodation. The dorm rooms which sleep about eight people are pleasantly large enough so that you don't feel cramped. There was a really big range of ages staying here which gave it a nice feel - not just young ones, but senior travellers too.
For about 11 Irish pounds you get a decent B&B. It used to be a convent!

Budget accommodation - those in bold type are ones recommended by friends staying here. I've left out ones that were reported as being grotty or are miles outside the city. I also left out the more expensive places! Abbey Hostel 29 Bachelors Walk 00353 1 8780700

Catching Some ZZZ's at Dublin International

by angelactress

Hi Everyone,

This will be the third and final airport I need to sleep in while I am in Europe. I have an early flight out on June 20th and I would rather stay overnight at the airport than risk missing it. My question is: has anybody slept at the airport overnight and can you offer any advice? Is it safe for a 24 year old female on her own?

Thanks for the input!

K :)

have you seen the Sleeping in Airports webpage - Dublin is featured.

I've never slept in the airport, seeing as I already live here and I can live with an early morning dash to the airport. However I have seen plenty of backpackers snoozing upstairs and they seemed to be left alone.

Being a Dubliner I haven't had occasion to sleep in the airport but I'm aware that there is 24 hour security and that it's not an uncommon thing for travellers to do so I'd suggest that you'll be safe enough.
