Looking for a hostel? Stay here!!!!

I have been to a few hostels, not a huge amount, but a couple. Globetrotters by far exceeds any other place I have stayed at. Actually, it puts a few of them to shame. The place is beautiful and clean, and you get a free all you can eat breakfast to start your day there. This is not the type of hostel that is bare bones cheapest you can get. Everything is exactly what you want and wish for, and you pay a little bit more for it. I am sure the fact that it is attached to a hotel and they are run by the same people has something to do with it. Residual benefits I guess.

I would suggest this place to anyone looking for reasonable accomidations in Dublin. Even if you could find a better hostel, this one is so good, there is no point in looking further. Plus it has a pretty good location.

I seem to recall paying around $25 or less for one bed in a 6 bed dorm.

Unique Quality: Clean. Painted and decorated well with a wonderful staff. Free all you can eat buffet breakfast each day.

Don't Miss Breakfast!

Very nice hostel and well worth the extra money. Shares the building with a small hotel...and shares the breakfast, too. Not your usual bread and tea fare here! Rashers, sausage, eggs, etc. in a nice breakfast room.

The bedrooms, too, are good. Plenty of space between bunks, a few chairs, and a nice private bathroom. No push-button, so you can take a long, hot shower.

So why didn't I stay here on my second trip? Well, service wasn't too friendly. Took forever to check in, and no one was very helpful. Getting back in after reception closed was also a pain. Granted, good security is important, but I felt like I was causing a problem by coming in late... and was glared at because I didn't have my receipt ready when they opened the door.

Also, the area is a factor. I think it's fairly safe, but it was a little dodgy looking at night, and not very busy. If you are traveling alone and want to stay out past last call, this might not be your best bet. However, morning people shouldn't miss it, grumpy staff notwithstanding.

Dublins Best Hostel

Globetrotters in my opinion is the best hostel in Dublin, its located in a shady area (Gardiner St) which runs almost behind O Connell st, so the location to the city is fantastic.
Just use your common sense and have your wits about you as in any big city and you wont find the area a problem.

Unique Quality: The dorms are clean and spacious, the showers are the best anywhere ever!!!

The staff are brilliant, the big Irish Brekkie is fab, you have a combi number to get access to each dorm room.

A very popular hostel!

You realise when you get there that the owners are actually making an effort to make your stay comfortable, and are not there just to take your money for the night.

Unique Quality: Fairly good location near the bus station. Small dorms (6 beds) with "en suite" bathrooms. Solid beds which don't creak.

Globetrotters Hostel is GREAT

We stayed at Globetrotter Hostel on Lower Gardiner Street, north of the Liffey, a block from Busarus bus station. This is a very nice, comfortable place with the best breakfast of any hostel we visited in Ireland! A full Irish breakfast like in B&Bs. Reasonably priced, convenient location.

Dublin Hostel

by kentishgirl about Globetrotters Hostel - Dublin

This is a fantastic hostel, and should I ever need to stay in accommodations again in Dublin it will definatly be Globetrotters.
However, the hostel is located on Lower Gardiner Street, which isnt the safest street in Dublin by any means! But there are plenty of other Hostels on this street, and Globetrotters have fab security. Theres a bar, a breakfast room, the best shower I ever had was here! The staff are friendly and its only a few minutes walk to Busarus, Connelly station and O Connell street.

The rooms are dorm style, but there is a B & B section to the hostel as well where you can rent a private room.
