On the O'Connell Street

I made a reservation at another hotel, but it went under the construction, and they sent us to this hotel. It's on the O'Connell St, but it was hard to find since the hotel had a small front door, which was locked when we arrived at 7am.

The room was clean and comfortable, but a shower was very small. Front desk staffs were very friendly. we stayed there for 3 nights, and every night, the door was already locked up when we went back. A hard working night staff kindly opened the door for us. :D

Unique Quality: They had the best Irish breakfast, ever!

Lynams Hotel

This is the Hotel I stayed in while I was in Dublin. It was really I would recommend it to other VT members. :)

Great Location

Quite a comfortable hotel despite the construction work going on out front. The room was adequate with all the necessary facilities.

Unique Quality: Very centrally located on O'Connell Street (right by the spire).
Nice lounges on the 1st and 3rd floors where one can relax.

Not bad

My son and I stayed at Lynams (http://www.lynams-hotel.com) for 5 nights in late June to Early July 2005. Had a great time at the hotel. Staff are friendly and discreet. Had a double room which featured a single bed and a double bed.

No air conditioning but that is typical. Windows open and provide a breeze. Bathroom was fine and the full shower/bath was fine with great water pressure. Room had a coffee pot and was replenished with instant coffee, sugar and cream every morning. Situated on upper Oconnell street halfway between the river Liffee bridge and Parnell square. Breakfast featured all the amenities; bacon, sausage and eggs, cereal (wheaties and rice crispies), milk, orange juice, cranberry juice. Served by professional Staff who aren't "hurrying" you along. Spacious dining room seats about 40 or so, never saw more than 6 people in there thus was very low stress. Friendly server; a Russian woman who has a great smile. No newspapers provided, but the tv in the room gets three stations; 2 local and the RTE, which Appeared to be a quasi-CNN. Good news starting at about 5 pm or so.

Unique Quality: I loved the location...in the heart of the city, close to bus stops literally within 20 feet of the front door, knowledgable and friendly front desk staff. No pool, no hot tub, but the view from our window overlooked Oconnell street. Never a dull moment on that street. The room was classy in a non-classy way. Informal yet formal. Does that make sense?

Great Location and Value

This was a neat boutique hotel in the center of Dublin. The price is great - rooms are small by American standards, but very functional. The rooms were clean and quiet. I am a VERY light sleeper and I did not hear any traffic as others have said. The elevator was also a big help, and the restaurant was excellent serving Italian food and many selections for breakfast. A nice atmospehere in the restaurant. The staff was helpful with all questions. The location simply cannot be beat - right in the center of O'Connell street. Catch the express bus from the Airport - it stops right across the street from the hotel, and for the return trip to the airport, it stops right in front of the hotel! What could be better. I would stay here again.

The hotel is in a good location for all central sites. The shopping area's are both within the immediate vacinity and also within 10 mins walk.
The bus stop for the airport is immediately outside the hotel.
The hop on hop on bus tour can also be caught immediately outside.
Nightlife can be found within 5 mins walk over the river.
The bedrooms are reasonable, however have seen better days and did not live up to the photo's shown on the site.
The rooms were ok, clean bedding etc. but there were bulbs out on several of the lights and the cleaning was not up to much - dust on the carpet and you could see that the furniture was not moved during cleaning!
Would we stay in the hotel again - yes as for the price it was sufficiently clean and in a good location. The staff were friendly and the night porter immediately came to the front entrance on an evening when we arrived back at the hotel (door locked at 11pm).
Whilst the price of the room does not include breakfast there are plenty of eating spots within a few mins walk (we did not use the cafe immediately adjoining the hotel as it was never busy and the prices looked quite expensive).
Good places to eat - Bewleys for breakfast (fantastic) and Thunder Cafe/Hard Rock both on the same street and 5 mins walk away.

Excellent location

Stayed 3 nights at Lynams from 26th - 29th April. Hotel is in a central position for shops, bus services, tourist information office and not far from Temple Bar area for nightlife. Airport bus stops right outside with the bus information office just a few yards away. Found the hotel to be clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Only downside is the noise from O'Connell Street - no double glazing at front of hotel. Found our room quite warm and needed to keep window open. After sampling the excellent Guinness the noise wasn't such a problem! Would advise any light sleeper to ask for room at back of hotel. The Italian restaurant on ground floor is well worth a visit - good value for money. If ever we return to Dublin would stay at Lynams again.

don't bother overpriced and dirty

worst hotel i've stayed in...ever
beds sheets not been changed, had hairs in sheets yuk a very unhelpful receptionist threw 2 sheets into the room and stropped off
shower filthy
kept awake all night as gaps all round hotel room door so could hear everyone in hallways
the only bar is at the back of a tiny restaurant
sheets and bags of laundry left in corridors and lounge area for hours
the only good thing was the location but would reccommend other hotels in the same street
overpriced all fittings partly broken in the room
furniture had chunks out of it
just awful

Not Up To Much!

On arrival we were given a dark room at the back which was very shabby with a nosiy generator outside. We asked if we could possibly have a room change and was given one to the front which was slightly better. My daughter's room was not without problems either. Several lights and TV controls were not working. Bathrooms were all in need of attention (chipped tiles, grouting needing cleaned and broken bins)

Breakfast was badly organised. It took 20 mins for waitress to acknowledge we had arrived. Our booking only entitled us to a Continental breakfast which consisted of cereal, two slices of toast and a yoghurt - very poor.

Wouldn't choose to stay here again. Only warrants 2 stars in my opinion.
