I think it was £10 per night but then everythings in Euro now so I don't know what it is now.

Unique Quality: It has a great pub underneath, close to all the action, nitelife, cheap, great staff.

Great Hostel Location but bring earplugs!

by krissyM about Oliver St. John Gogarty

Oliver St John Gogarty is a lively hostel in the heart of the Temple Bar district of Dublin. It is within walking distance of all the major sights such as Trinity College and is also within walking distance of the bus stop to get to and from the airport. I would reccomend bringing earplug though because when I say lively, I mean lively. It is surrounded by Pubs and can get quite loud, especially on the weekends.

Rooms are twin, 4, 6, 8 and 10 bed dorms all with private ensuite. One thing that is kind of odd about this place is that there is only one key to the room. So, the room key has to be left at the front desk. However, each bed has it's own lockable cupboard so don't forget a lock. The location can't be beat, only a few short steps to some of the liveliest bars in Dublin.

decent Temple Bar hostel

by molough about Oliver St. John Gogarty

We stayed in an 8-bed mixed dorm at OSJG. It's pretty much your typical hostel. Not much to rage about. Not much to complain about.

Pros - GREAT location right in the heart of Temple Bar. It's pretty cheap so that's definitely a bonus if traveling on a budget (good for backpackers). The staff is really nice. I didn't try the breakfast, but I heard it's decent. Lots of fun people in this hostel so it's really easy to meet people and go out for a friendly pint (or 10).

Cons - OSJG also has a bar so it's a bit loud at most hours of the day and night. Bathroom could use a daily cleaning. I think they only clean it once every three days or so. We also didn't get new sheets, which is fine with me but some other travellers were complaining.

Dublin accomodations

by boobyis

Hi.

I'm going to be in Dublin for 2 or 3 nights at the start of October, and am trying to find a hostel to stay in. I was thinking of Oliver St John Gogarty. Has anyone heard anything about this hostel? Or do you have any others that you prefer?

Thanks

Barb

Actually I don't have any specific experience of these places myself but the Four Courts Hostel seems to get some of the best reviews on this site

Oliver St John Gogarty's gets some good reviews as well so i think either would be a good choice.

OStG has a very central location, although I don't know if you'd get much sleep with all the racket from drunken people in Temple Bar.
