Easy To Find!

This is a handsome-looking hotel both externally and internally. The building is a perfect example of a Georgian town house and the high-ceilinged reception/lounge and bar are pretty classy. The rooms themselves are a bit less grand (well pretty much bog-standard if mine was anything to go by) but are clean and comfortable and have all the necessary bits and bobs required from a mid-market city hotel and as a bonus freebie WiFi (the emphasis on being FREE).

Reception was friendly and efficient and the breakfast-included rate (at just over 60 euros) very reasonable.

I was only here for one night and having been out late I missed breakfast (even though that is served at the more than reasonable hours of 8 to 10) and so can't comment on the food, but I hear that it is OK.

I noticed on a review elsewhere that some people found the rooms noisy due to thin walls and creaky floorboards. Noisy rooms never bother me personally - after 10 or so pints of Guinness and an excellent Singapore noodle supper I can sleep through anything! Something perhaps to be wary of if you are a light sleeper though.

PS: I did hear the creaky floorboards when I finally surfaced at 10 minutes before check-out!

Unique Quality: Whilst this was just a bed for the night, so far as I was concerned, it is in a perfect location, just after the top end of O'Connell Street, slap-bang in the city centre. The bus stop from the airport bus is about a minute's walk, as are most other bus stops, and the local urbal rail station at Connelly is within easy walking distance too.

Don't expect The Gresham but pretty good value otherwise.

St Georges at Parnell square

Its a nice ** hotel in a Georgian house. We had an offer from our Dutch travel company OAD. . . pay for 3 and get 4 nights. Normally one night cost about 90-110 euro a room. The rooms have different sizes. The are well kept and all with bath/shower/tv.

From a website (all is true):
"Situated at the top of O'Connell Street on Parnell Square, Hotel St George is a centrally located budget 2-star Georgian hotel.
Accommodation: Bedrooms are ensuite, with direct-dial phone, TV, tea/coffee tray, hairdryer. Facilities & Services: Breakfast room; Bar; Elevator; Private carpark; meeting facilities. Location: Hotel St George is on Parnell Square East, at the top of O'Connell Street, across from Gate Theatre. A 15 minute walk from Busaras, the central Bus station. Things to Do: About 15 minutes walk from Temple Bar and Trinity College, Grafton Street and central shopping areas. Also on route of Dublin's Cultural Trail and very close to James Joyce Cultural centre, the Writers Museum, Gate Theatre and Hugh Lane Gallery. Earliest check in: 2 pm Latest check out: 12 noon"

Unique Quality: We had a view over The Parnell Square, the city and the Wiclow mountains. The hall, near the reception as well as the stairway is impressive; you can sit in in the hall and read the paper and or order a coffee or pint of Guiness. There is an Irish breakfast included.
