Re: transport from dublin airport

If you go to

http://www.templebarhotel.com/locations-directions

and click on 'For detailed & printable directions to and from hotel please click here.'

you will get exact instructions for getting to the hotel from the airport.

Use the Aircoach from the airport. Timetables and info here:

http://www.aircoach.ie/dublin.airport.transport.timetables.php

Both the Ballsbridge/Donnybrook or Leopardstown/Sandyford buses can drop you at Trinity College.

The hotel website says:

>The Aircoach will leave you outside the main entrance to Trinity College. Dame Street will be in front of you and Westmoreland Street will be on your right. Walk down onto Westmoreland street and take a left onto Fleet Street. Temple Bar Hotel is located on the right hand side of Fleet Street beside the Hard Rock Cafe.<

Hiya I travel to Dublin at least every couple of months and have stayed at the Fleet Street many times. The easiest way is to get the aircoach which is available outside the airport and is 12 euros return and is direct. You get off need the bottom of Grafton Street and literaly need to turn right (its just outside trinity college)cross over the road to the same side as college, and fleet st is within sight, there is a subway on the corner and is next door to the hotel

Travel Tips for Dublin

Oscar Wilde Lived Here

by tvor

Oscar Wilde, Victorian poet and playwrite, was born in Dublin. He became infamous at the end of his life for the relationship he had with Lord Alfred Douglas leading to sodomy trials, the charges brought against him by the Marquess of Queensbury, Douglas's father. Before that, Wilde was famous for his flamboyant lifestyle and clever, witty plays and poems. He is widely quoted and in Dublin his home is now the American College, on the north corner of Merrion Square. There are two short pillars next to the statue of the languid Oscar relaxing on a stone with a flower in his hand. The pillars have some of the more famous Oscar quotes carved into them and on the top of one of them is the sculpture of the pregnant woman that you see in this photo. She represents Oscar's mother Lady Francesca Wilde. Near Merrion Square is Green's Bookstore. When you go in here you could easily lose yourself in time, picturing the famous poets and writers such as Wilde, James Joyce and others browsing the stacks.

Sitting in a bar when a group...

Sitting in a bar when a group of people cam eup with instruments, set up camp, and started playing. It was so cool. My friend (from Dublin) joined in as I swayed (a little guiness does that) to the music with a stupid grin on my face. Thanks Podge. The people. So kind and gentle natured. Very giving and well I was treated better than I have and probably will do for a long time. I had people I'd just met make me feel more at home than my friends do back here. Hmmmm. Just the good atmosphere I have to say I miss. They can keep the weather though.

Visit a pub. You won't have any problem finding one either. There's quite a few. A lot of visitors like Guinness. I'm easy on this drink. I like imported beers from Germany & Czech Republic. My favourite pub is 'The Porter House' in Parliament Street. This is a micro Brewrey which brews it's own beer - several varieties. Ironically it does not sell Guinness, but it's own beers are excellent and leave nothing to be desired. It also sells a very extensive range of imported beers (you would never have guessed, would you?). Very popular and well worth trying.

Stone walls

by acemj

Ireland was one of those locations that I had heard so much about that it was almost familiar to me on my first visit. Over the years, I've seen many photos of the Cliffs of Moher, Dublin's Georgian doors, incredibly green grass, and believe it or not, stone walls. It seems like every rural photo that I see shows a stone wall curving through a green rolling hill and leading to a stone hut or farm. Even in Dublin, I noticed many of these old, stone walls. This one is along the path between the Modern Art Museum and Kilmainham Gaol.

Street scene in front of the Turk's Head

by Kentbein

I think one of the Pub'ers the night before decided that Dublin needed a small reminder of their age olde reputation for a good hard reveling. There are a lot of pubs in Dublin (around 2000 I've read), and Dubliners are known to drink hard at times. Tourists too, so I'm by no means laying all with the locals. But, someone during the previous night tied one on, and dropped the evidence here in front of the Turk.
