Cheaper than a hotel

If you're going to be in Dublin during the summer, consider staying in a dorm room at Trinity College. Compared to a hotel room they are rather spartan, but the rooms are clean. I contacted the college and was able to rent a four bedroom apartment for my group. It had four small bedrooms (room for a single bed, a closet, a desk and a sink), a bathroom with a shower and living/dining/kitchen area. No television, but you're really not visiting Dublin to watch TV, are you? It's probably not the best arrangement for families, but for singles or small groups it works well. I'd stay there again.

Unique Quality: Breakfast is included in the price of the stay. Breakfast included various cereals, breads, fruit, milk, tea and coffee. There is an option to upgrade to a full Irish breakfast but we did not try this.

When you check in, there are students available that will help you find the building you'll be staying in. If it's a long way they will drive you there.

Via Tourist office to College

We arrived in Dun Laoghaire by sea from Hollyhead and took the train to Dublin (DART). No pre arranged accomodation was booked, and after a coffee, (7 am), we found ourselves on O'Connell Street and the Tourist Information office. I only popped in for a map but noticed that they arranged accomodation. The person behind the counter asked me if I minded how much I would pay. I said that I didn't. "Would £3 a night be too much ?" I was overjoyed, and more so when I found that it was Trinity College which is in the heart of Dublin. It could be seen that I was impressed but she added "That includes breakfast !"

Unique Quality: Tranquility, comfort, central location, clean and well appointed.

Trinity College Rooms

Aaah - Stopping in Trinity College's tranquil surroundings is fantastic - loads of famous Irishmen went here (with exception of Joyce who went to that far better institution UCD). Student rooms are available for bed & breakfast during non-term time. Not usre what breakfast is like as never made it up in time - and given the place's proximity to Temple Bar, then will be suprised if you do either!

Goldsmith Hall

This is Goldsmith Hall, a part of Trinity College, where I lived in my final year of studies. Finding accommodation in Dublin is not an easy task so I was very glad to be staying right in the centre of the city.

Pictured: Campus of Trinity...

Pictured: Campus of Trinity College, Dublin. Ahhh, my first morning in Ireland and this was the view! Trinity College is avail to guests only 3-4 months, in summer. I was fortunate to stay the first week of September and it was the absolutely perfect location as most tours, etc., use this as central meeting point. Also, airport shuttle lets off in front, fyi. ATM across the street, internet cafes nearby, campus has all you need in addition to this being good central location if you're planning to do alot of walking/exploring which I highly recommend!
45.00 pounds or approx. $54 USD.
