Royal Marine Hotel: Grand old lady restored

The Royal Marine Hotel, established over a hundred years ago as a the grandest seasside hotel in Dun Laoghaire is soon to reopen as a 4* hotel after a complete refurbishment. Its appearance has been returned almost to what it was when it originally opened and it will hopefully be a good place for tired people catching a ferry to rest their weary heads once more soon :-)

FitzPatricks Castle Hotel: If its castles you like . . .

FitzPatricks is one of the few hotels left in the general Dun Laoghaire area (Its actually in Killiney, about 2.5 km from Dun Laoghaire town centre). Its built in a faux maedievel style, with the gatehouse being cute and the main hotel buildings being a bit ugly. Its a plush place for a 4*, though probably now in need of a makeover. Very popular with American tourists in the glory days for them in Ireland back in the 1970s. Its gym/pool facilities are good and it has a nice bar. The grounds are pleasant and its built on the side of Killiney Park, which has lovely walks and views of the city from the top of its hill.

Unique Quality: Fake castles motif! :-)
