Connemara Hostel: Ben Lettery Connemara Hostel

Right in the heart of Connemara, sitting all by its lonesome at the base of Ben Lettery, is the Hostelling International Ben Lettery Youth Hostel. Its a great place to stay for some peace, quiet, solitude, and escaping the modern world. It has its own rustic charm. Its a great place for hikers and cyclists, and a good start location for those seeking to climb Ben Lettery. The hostel is 13 km from Clifden and 8 km from Recess, and 14 km from Roundstone on the coast. It is also a good central point for those seeking to explore the folklore and legends of Inisboffin or the Aran Islands. The hostel is closed during the day (10 am - 5 pm) and is open for check-in from 5 pm until 10 pm March through November. Checkout time is 10 am. The hostel is spacious, comfortable, and quiet. I has a big self catering kitchen, a spacious dining room, and a common room with a turf fire and views of the scenic countryside. The hostel offers dorm and private rooms, washing machine, dryer, and other amenities. Tours are available of the local area. Outside the hostel has free parking. Rooms are €36.00- €40.00 for 2 bedded rooms, €17.00-€19.00 for the 4 bedded rooms, and €15.50 - €16.50/night for the 6-8 bedded rooms. Directions: Road/Car: Follow the signs for Clifden (N59). Pass through Recess and the youth hostel is on the right hand side approximately 8km/5 miles further on.
Bus: Bus Eireann: Galway - Clifden service passes by the youth hostel, alight at the gate. Michael Nee Coaches 095 34682 – drop off directly at hostel. Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5.

The Ben View B & B: You have to see the breakfast room

This is a B & B / guesthouse with a real sense of history. Right in the centre of Clifden has operated about a dozen room since the 1920's. The grandparents of the current owners were quite the little Alan Sugar's of their day. Apart from the guesthouse they also had a restaurant and a general store. They have now gone, but the breakfast room (a wonderfully olde wordle experience with great charm) still uses the silver tea and coffee pots from the restaurant.

Prices are very reasonable and the staff friendly. The house has tons of original features - what more could you ask for ? OK, OK a pool, tennis court, a spa would be nice. Tough.

Tower View B&B: Tower View B&B

Bargain accomodation a couple of miles outside Clifden. The B&B is quite small, but in a delightful location. Owners Michael and Antoinette are very friendly and we enjoyed our stay.

Unique Quality: Located on the Lower Sky Road the B&B enjoys views across Clifden Bay. It was enjoyable to take a stroll in the mornings and evenings. I'd stay here again.

Errismor House: A place to feel at home

Mrs Ann Schley a very friendly lady and her husband are running this place. It?s located in the centre, just a hundred meter walk from the pubs and supermarket.

Unique Quality: The rooms are clean with a have private shower. Like in all B&B is the breakfast superb.

They had more detailed maps of the area available for us and pointed us also towards the skyroad.
