More about Abacus Guest House
Abacus Guest House
A nice warm welcome by the 'boss in training' - daughter of Breege & Noel. Everyone in the place was astounded that we were not staying for the Galway Festival, but we were talked in to spending a few hours at the races & a few Euros at the same time! A really nice Guest House, verging on a small Hotel & therefore priced a little on the high side. The place has all the gadgets you could ever want - internet, TV, fridge in room, etc. A lovely place, nice family, fair location for the City, but I though the room was a litte cramped in comparison with other B&B's we stayed in.
Great place to stay
A great night to spend after a hard day cycling from Limerick (66 miles). The place was spotless & we were given a very friendly welcome. There was also a place to store our expensive bikes for the night too. Car park was a good size for a B&B aswell.
The rooms were large a very clean with the added benefit of a desk top fridge. The TV had plenty of choice aswell.
Bathroom was great & the shower was superb.
We walked into the centre (30 mins) but there were plenty of buses along the way we could have got on. I was able to use the internet in the guest lounge aswell.
Breakfast was great. The scrambled eggs must have come from an Ostericchh as there was loads.
On our departure we met outside by our hosts to say goodbye etc. & chatted a while before we set off.
I would highly recommend staying here to anyone & would certainly come again in the future. A very well organised place to stay but with the really friendly atmosphere made Abacus
overall, the best place we stayed in on our 10 night cycle tour of the whole of Ireland.

Loved our stay !
"It's the little things that made a refreshing difference - the in-room drinks chiller and digital safe, plentiful tea/coffee supplies replenished daily, complementary toiletries, free internet provided you had your own notepad, cosy beds and the most restful and relaxing guest lounge with hi-tech wall mounted flat screen TV.
The breakfast room is relaxing and the Irish breakfasts a treat - even if you only want a lite-bite, you'll enjoy it.
Add to all this the personal touch from the owners and you'll see why we rate this guest house as not to be missed"

Just spent 3 nights at the Abacus Guest House and it was absolutely perfect!! Our double room with en-suite was plenty big enough, spotlessly clean and lovely decorated. The hospitality was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and we were very well looked after by Louise who is amazing! Definitely recommend the full Irish breakfast.. well it set us for the day :O).
Very well situated, only a few minutes drive to Galway City Centre, recommend Bodkins Bar (turn left onto the main road from the Abacus and it's just a mile or so on the main road on the right) they serve a great carvery. All in all a perfect little gem of a place to stay.
They lent us a converter that worked!
Very clean, Louise is very friendly and helpful. But they do need a sign heading OUT from town to help find it. Good water pressure and hot showers, which are sometimes dicey on the Emerald Isle
This is a well located Guesthouse, about a 5 minute drive from Galway city centre. The rooms are clean and well-maintained but the decor needs a bit of an update. Parking is available on-site.
A fantastic Guest House in a nice part of town. Clean and Modern. Good food. Close to the bus line, and a cab is cheap. The family that runs the Abacus is very helpful and friendly. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because of the pillows. For me- pillows in a B&B are everything, and our room could use some new pillows. Other then that though, everything was fantastic...and a great value.
The Abacus is a wonderful place to relax and recharge your travel batteries, and I don't mean for your camera! It is a short drive away from Galway's commercial center, which makes night-time activities a bit more difficult, but the bus line is steps away and there are many taxis. We found the owners friendly and helpful. The room was large and accommodated our family nicely. The bathroom was great with hot water and lots of it. Breakfast was great, too. In other words, after reading my review, I would say the Abacus is much recommended by this traveler.
We stayed at several B&B's in Ireland and found this to be the nicest in terms of physical accommodations. However the cost was a bit higher than the others. The owner provided a wealth of info about transportation, nightlife, places to eat, local attractions, etc. Breakfast was typical of the B&B's in offering an assortment of foods. Greatly enjoyed our experience there.
Abacus guesthouse is a very cosy and homelike place, excellent service. Clean, comfortable with only a few minutes walk for the city centre. Can warmly recommend to everybody!
