A Guide to Pulling in Galway.............

by dean5050

So who can help?

For a lads' trip (in their mid-20's) to Galway on April 26th for four days where would be good places to visit, hang out and drink.

Places where it won't feel like we're in a German susage party (i.e. a pub or bar full of men standing around sipping their pint of Spitfire ready to pounce on the sight of any fillie that happens to wonder in).

For a good pub, try King's Head at the bottom of Shop St., very busy pub with live bands. Also Busker's a little further down is also good! There are a good few nightclubs in the city, there are usually people on Shop St. handing out flyers/stamping hands for discounts.

I think most of the pubs have a good mix of females:males, so you won't really have a problem!!!

Kingshead at shopstreet
and one of the best clubs is the roisin dubh ( http://www.roisindubh.net/index.php)

there is also a good cclub called "HALO" close to shopstreet ( ask people on the street) its always fun there aswell.
but always have your ID's with you coz sometimes the bouncers dont let you in without an ID. ( even when ure definitly OVER 20 )

Travel Tips for Galway

Enjoy the Canal

by racheljapi

One of my favorite things to do during my stay in Galway was to sit with a coffee and my journal next to the canal. This spot is perfect for relaxing, reflecting, people watching, and nature watching. Keep your eyes open for the swans, they swim right up to the side of the Canal.

Cleggan Harbor

by jckim

Cleggan is a small fishing village nestling at the head of Cleggan Bay, on Connemara's Atlantic Coast. This village is the departure point for ferry services to the islands of Inishbofin and Inishturk.

Touristy, but fun

by Jennyjump79 about An Pucan

This was the first pub I went to in Galway City, and despite being a tourist magnet, it was also a pretty lively bar. There is a small stage for trad bands in the rear of the pub, but most of the activity is at the bar itself, where tourists (and a few locals) can gather and talk travel.

Decent lunch

by iaint about Olive Tree Bistro

Checked into our hotel at lunchtime, and after a 3 hour trip from Dublin, decided on a hotel coffee shop lunch before sightseeing.

It was fine - nothing fancy, but then neither was the hotel!

Service was quick and friendly.

€34 for 2 - main course & coffee. Club sandwich - just the way you'd expect it to be!

The River Corrib

by slothtraveller

One of the shortest rivers in all Europe, the Corrib connects the expansive Lough Corrib to the north with Galway Bay to the south, passing through Galway City before emptying into the sea. You can take a riverside walk from the Salmon Weir Bridge in Galway. The river is fast flowing and quite wide at Galway.
