a cool 'village'
by Marpessa about Corrib Village
From June to September the Corrib Village is used as Bed and Breakfast accomodation. I stayed here for two nights. The room was a good size, although not a heap of room, but enough. The bathroom was good, fairly new. There was also a TV. During the summer they run a free shuttle bus from Corrib Village to Eyre Square, Galway. Continental breakfast is included in the price.
Ireland in a nutshell
by Maddness
4 days (or was it 3?), arriving in Dublin via ferry from Holyhead in Wales.
A nightmare finding a place to stay (football game was on).
Nice city but with a fair share of problems though. Certain areas should be avoided...
Taking the morning bus to Galway.
Again problems getting a place to stay (no particular reason for the crowds).
Finally got a room in Corrib Village (university campus), quite a walk from the center but didn't mind since I got to see a lot more that way. Hauling a 30kg backpack was quite an experience though.
next day...tour bus to Clifs of Moher, Burren etc.
next day... Aran Islands - Inismor, hired a bike, got far away from the crowds, had to ditch the bike several times to explore areas with no trails, no tourist, no locals, just stone walls and clifs
next day...bus back to Dublin, the worst nightmare ever finding a place to stay (Metallica concert)
ferry back to Hollyhead, train to London, sleeping at Stansted airport lobby...plane home
